Re: Chris' 200 20v Revver Project
Master Jeff's secret to success involves a completely different location of the port, significantly larger, and a tapered runner design preferably to get more flow. Templates are on their way back to me, and we are going to cut a custom flange and probably some CNC'ed runners. Old manifold would have been dandy for your everyday 8500rpm 700whp monster, but making power at 9500 requires some tricks to be unleashedloxxrider wrote:my2000apb wrote:whats the deal with the runners? shape or volume?

Why did I have to watch this? Now I'm scared for my timing belt... watch it at 8:15.
I did get a few new pictures lately. I'll post them soon.

Re: Chris' 200 20v Revver Project
Guys, here are some pics of the head progress as of the 19th of September...
I've been busy! ... with my BMW
Plus, I think it's good to spread the updates out
From Jeff:
"Chamber Work Starting - Area to be relieved around intake"

"Rough cut to scribe line - intake relief. 10 of these cuts needed per head"

"Same cut opposite valve - don't worry these seats are coming out."

"Opposite valve partially open"

"Stock chamber - exhaust valve shrouding - 25% of valve"

"29.5 Ex.Valve with clearance at chamber wall"

"29.5 Valve - opposite. There will be more material removed when big seats are installed."

"34 mm intake with finished relief."

"Finished relief - no valve - stock seats can come out now"

"Current shot of test port in development head - big seats now in."

Since then, not much has happened. The next step is some custom valves from Ferrea. This might just be the highest flowing AAN/3b/7a head of all time when it's finished... Pretty cool! Jeff Gerner
We shall see when the numbers come back!

Truely impressive
You will have to set the idle at 3000rpm not to choke with a head like this ?

The idle will probably be a fair bit higher than stock, but I don't foresee it being higher than 1500 RPM. I really don't know though... we'll see one day!Clem86 wrote:Truely impressive![]()

LOL no, the money is just waiting to be spent. Most of what is taking the head so long is because Jeff is doing a lot of development work on it which will go into his own engine. Also, he knows I'm not in a rush, so the work is being done when there's time for it (it's not first on the priority list). That means more effective R&D and keeps the cost down a little I suppose.chaloux wrote:That's sick. I like this project. Why is it taking so long, what, are you out of money or something?LOL
Money influx is certainly not what it was in the past year, so I'm not trying to push anyone to get anything done. I'd be perfectly happy if it took another two years

And no, haven'tdecided on the cams yet. We ccan't until the final flow numbers come in. I'm sure they'll be custom cats though.
