Yesterday I was up for 23 hours. At 9 I took one of those 5 hour energy things. Lo and behold, it lasted about 5 hours! At 230, an hour away from home, dad took over and I dozed off. We parked the truck and trailer at dad's and I reluctantly took the Geo home. No mid-night hoonage for us (with no insurance, plates, etc...)
So my dad and I drove down to Schenectady, NY to pick up my family's second official Audi, a 1987 Audi 4000 CS Quattro with an AAN transplant, 034 IIc, and a Garrett 30R. I drove the car across the parking lot to test it out. I broke traction in first and second with ~18psi and a rich tune, decided it was good, and loaded it on the trailer. The flywheel and harsh engine/tranny mounts will take some getting used to.
About an hour into our trip, we were met with this weather:
A few minutes later, this happened on the Northbound lanes:
We decided to keep going (this particular spot has bad lake effect) and made it through the border without problems. We met up with Mike about 45 minutes late because the truck and trailer combo makes for pretty slow going. Seeing the car changed how I felt about it. It is awesome. I officially now love small chassis Audis. I realized it's not a beauty queen, but everything that needs to be is in amazing condition. Thankfully dad's shop neighbour is a body guy and friend (get to my plants in a minute) so I don't have to fret about the small details. I've decided to drive it in the winter, although sparingly. Dry weather/sunny days only. And I'm going to oil the snot out of it.
She had a few firsts on the way home. Her first exposure to salt:

And her first exposure to snow. Hope she likes it!:

**with sentiment out of the way, we can carry on**
The car is far from perfect, and I like it that way. It means I can work on it to make it mine without having to spend gobs of dough modding it (that can come later). For now I'm going to button up the interior, update the ECU, tune it, and sort out any issues that need to be addressed to make it a super solid driver.
