Pete - Looks like Jim used either a 4kq front ARB or a CGT one, then 4kq links to tie the ARB to the lower control arm instead of the longer links of the later CQs and 90Q20vs....right Jim?

Right, it could even be an early CQ front bar...but I've never seen control arms with those extensions where his ARB links connect to...

The setup is custom. I took the stock 20v 90q front sway bar and put it in the rear with universal Energy poly bushings. The brackets are just welded on to the stock stamped rear control arms. The car has nice turn in like this

Jim - any advantage connecting the sway bar to the control arms that way vs the long links that audi used for the CQ/90s?
Any idea why Audi went from connecting the sway bar from the control arm to the strut?

The thought of connecting it to the strut at the time did not even cross my mind. I sourced all of these parts from an Autozone down the street and it just all kind of came together one afternoon. Been running it for about 4 years now.
I would like to put a smaller sway bar back on the front and because I now have cast arms up there, I guess I will have to weld a tab onto the strut.

The quattro is back in the car and took it for a spin last night with the new to me 6 speed
Wow, this thing shifts like new compared to my old 5 speed 01E. I'm not saying this will make me a better driver, but I can't wait to get this on the track. I was fighting the gearbox quite a bit at Spring Mountain.
The suspension feels quite a bit different, initial turn in is about the same since I had gone through the front recently, but now with the new rear bits I can keep turning and the car keeps responding
Here is a preview of this weekends project, Got v-band? This is quite the expensive WG diaphragm fix. 8)

Just finished replacing the front wheel bearings with my new favorite tool that now occupies the useless space in front of our water heater: Also went back to standard durometer transmission mounts. I have poly engine mounts so they do plenty to hold the motor in place, I was getting too much NVH through the combo of poly motor mounts and higher density transmission mounts.
The final results are awesome, finally nice and quite on cruise! The car feels new again with the transmission and all of the suspention bits, and really a pleasure to drive. I am actually excited to make the trip up to 034 on Thursday for some dyno shenanigans:)

I think we can get it there. I seem to remember hearing the guy say I did 474whp on my first dyno run, but he had the software set for non-wasted spark and the TQ numbers were all out of wack. I should have grabbed the plot because the HP would have been correct.
My 35R exhaust wheel looks well used/got a little too hot at one point, not sure if it is from the pump gas, or the launch control or both. I had a period where I did not have enough timing and I am thinking that was the culprit.

What a weekend, well more like a week! I left early Thursday morning and drove from Orange County to Fremont to join Hank and a bunch of turbos for a turbo bake-off at the 034 dyno. More on that after I type this
At the end of the day, I decided to keep the last turbo on the car for the Thunderhill event on Sat and Sunday. I wanted to feel what the 30R could do on the track. Hank, thanks for letting me use the turbo, it made it home in one piece!
After a slightly rough start realizing I left my helmet at home, Christian graciously let me borrow one of his old ones. I kinda got used to the Pro SCCA racer stickers by the end of the weekend :-)
Now that I had a helmet Friday morning, I headed back to 034 to loiter mostly, but conveniently came across Phil Cowen and his Coupe getting massaged by Nate on the dyno. I hung around long enough to grab lunch with Javad, Nate, and Phil. I will never be the same after that burrito. Thanks again to everyone at 034 for doing what you do 8)
We started at the track by doing a track walk/drive Friday night and talking about turn 5 and 9. I was drooling on myself all night after seeing these two blind corners, and the thought of trying my new R888's on a track like this.
Saturday was more of a learn the track day and get used to R-compounds since I had never driven them before. All I can say is I know some don't like the R888's, but I had a ball on them and cannot for the life of me think why I waited this long to make the jump.
Sunday was THE day. I got moved from B class, to C, then was able to Solo for three sessions in the afternoon. In general, I really love the GT30R, it is fast, you stomp on the gas and the car just goes. With an 8k redline, there is a lot of usable power curve.
Vid of one of my better laps. I stayed in third a bit more than I did later in the day since I was following an RS4 and it was a nice pace for my first session with this group. This was the second session of the day, and the second time I made my instructor noxious, .
