Those stock lil' 4k rotors are cute little buggers but I'm happy with 50mm more rotor and much more girth

Conveniently, the brake lines all matched up no problem.

I also redrilled the 5x120mm BMW rotors to 5x112mm Audi. After taking 20 minutes one day to try and line up the non-hubcentric bmw rotor (bigger hub bore) and the non-hubcentric OZ's I decided I needed some centering rings for the rotors. What I REALLY need is to do wheel studs but I don't have time for that right now. I'll order some up next week.

For now, I had the local waterjet cutter make some rings for my BMW rotors. I welded them in place and whammo, hubcentric rotors!

I'm up against a deadline with track day tomorrow, but I'll eventually pull those calipers and paint them black to match the Porsche brakes up front.

Here's a pic of the finished product in the rear. Looks good and stops even better. Hells yeah.

Looks great! I was starting to wonder what happened to this. So with useig front calipers on the rear, you have no ebrake. Are you planning to use a hydrolic ebrake?

And yes, I scored some OZ Ultraleggera's cheap. I was on the hunt for some 17" Avus wheels because I just love those things. Upon doing a bit of research I found out they're 28lbs a piece. Ouch. These OZ's are 16lbs each, winner.

Ya, I'll figure out an ebrake at some point. Probably go hydraulic but I don't know anything about it right now. Once I have time I'll start to do a bit of research on it. My E30 M3 has had ebrake delete since the day I bought it 4 yrs ago (it was a track car so P/O removed the ebrake so the pads wouldn't melt to the rotor) and its really not that big a deal. Plus now I drive around with harbor freight wheel chalks if I need something in a pinch.

Holy crap. Race gas is nuts. There's so much fuel... I'm so glad I asked Ross to take a few logs. He probably gained 40hp just taking fuel out!

It's still rich at this point, his phone died and we only got 2 logs in. Still, much much better than before

Track day went good until the following photos happened. Ross was texting me the whole time updating me, the only hiccup being the ecu vacuum reference line popping off once. I'll admit I was pretty jealous of all the fun I never got to have. Until this happened.

Aeroquip socketless hose NEEDS clamps. I did not have them on under my ownership, but I'll never trust that stuff without clamps again. I didn't get cheap fittings or hose, it's all legit stuff. I feel pretty bad about that. Such a shitty way to kill an engine.

Real bummer! Just curious if lube was used to assemble those? I have been running them for years but they must be assembled dry and can be a bitch to get all the way on.

Yeah, assembled dry. They fit on so well and I tried pulling them off, no dice. I decided then not to put clamps on. I'm used to putting hoses on fittings (plumber) and they were definitely up there.

They're supposed to be rated for 300°F. Don't know about pressure, but man... Just shitty. It wouldn't have taken long to evacuate ~5l of oil at 60psi through a -10 hose.

That was the best and worst track session ever. My buddy (shifter kart champ) was driving behind me in my E30 M3 and we were having the time of our lives. I couldn't shake him, that car is so well sorted. We had a GoPro mounted on the M3 but for some reason it didn't work and shut off. That would've been so much fun to see.

So yeah, my first motor failure. Ever. I thought my right rear tire was flat because the car got a bit loose so I stopped hitting throttle almost immediately (or so it seemed??) and just coasted and pulled off the track. Then smoke everywhere. A pretty underwhelming way to blow up a motor. :bangshead: :bangshead:

So I'm in the process of getting the motor pulled for inspection.

Then the next morning this happened. The wife hit something in the TDI wagon and kept driving... Literally less than 12hrs after the Audi motor went south.

oh man, major bummer!!! I've never liked the idea of the push lok hose!

Did the TDI survive? i broke my TDI pan this year and it ran out of oil and it was totally fine. However, I shut it down the millisecond the oil buzzer went off. Those pans are horrible, so easy to hit and so damn flexible.

I'm glad that was an "easy" fix. I can't imagine the AAN will be quite so lucky...

Not a whole lot to report just yet. I sourced a low mileage donor block from Mcstiff (thx Ed!) for the rebuild. I placed a big order in mid-november for all the engine components, which I'm still waiting on...... I should have everything I need parts-wise once that box of shiny parts shows up from Iroz.
