do you know for sure that oil starved engine is toast? they can take a bit and still be okayish.
did you do any tests or restarts? it would not cost anything to get oil in it and see if everything is okay at temperature. If it was not under load and you shut it down soon could be okay. if you have good oil pressure when warm the bearings may be okayish. :idunno:

Yeah I wish that were the case. Its definitely toast. Rod bearings melted to the crank, hence the donor block/crank being utilized.

I'm basically rebuilding just as Matt had it set up. It was such a champ and the motor failure wasn't the motor's fault. Lesson learned, don't ever use those push-lock fittings. Ever. :bangshead: :bangshead:

One good and somewhat rewarding find upon Ross' teardown was that there was ZERO signs of detonation. Pistons were perfect etc. That makes me happy at least, knowing that it was running 28psi on 94 octane with 0 issues, likely making close to 400whp before I handed it over to Ross.

But that poor bottom end, that poor, poor bottom end... lol. If I recall correctly, you couldn't bump start it, right Ross? One stuck engine.

It was running so, so well when it died... Matt helped me tune it for 102 octane the night before that track day and it was handling better than ever.

Yeah I tried to break it loose with a tug behind my duramax. Put it in 5th gear and gave it a pull and the poor thing just drug all 4 tires. Stuck.

Whoa. Bummer Ross! At least you have a donor block to get it back up quickly.
