In the past I have said that I would sell an AAN for 7a parts (I have, turned an AAN into rods and most of a manifold) but I don't think the shortblock commands enough money to get me pistons.

In the end it will, probably, be an AAN block & pistons, aftermarket rods, 3b head, 7a cams, valve cover, oil pan, accessories and a bunch of aftermarket stuff. Hard to call it any specific single engine. If I want more than 500whp I'll bore it out to 82.5 for aftermarket pistons.

First things first, 300+ whp 7a!

Good call. What I would do for a running car ATM......<finishes dinner break to go back out to the shop to put the crank in the block with t-61 hours left :) >

Scouted out the location for the VEMS. Looks like I'll either carve a spot out of the knee bar or just plasti-dip my gray front shelf. Can't decide which is 'safer' for my knees.

I'll be working on the install tomorrow and Sat nights then all day Monday and Tuesday. I should be able to get it going to drive to work Weds :D

It's a little rough but opens up the room I need to breach the firewall for the VEMS harness. Need to track down the ex. amp cables to hook up the batt. Stock harness is still intact, depending on how the day goes that may change :lol:

Of course, people want me to go out for my birthday tonight and tomorrow :)

Buying a car that was owned by stereo people really makes moving the battery to the rear easy! I have 3 good power cables running from engine to hatch. Not perfect but they will do for now.

Decided to have a drive today and pickup some parts just need to drill the firewall hole for the VEMS and splice in sensors.

Also, it seems like the VEMS could be squeezed mostly into the stock ECM location once a few things are moved. Tempting to put the hole in the firewall above the AC lines.

So I'm thinking something like this:

I like the idea of concealing most of the coils under the stock battery cover but I may slide it to the driver's side:

You can see the hole saw under the coils. This location seems to allow some flexibility with VEMS and relay mounting (near the stock position, behind the center stack) and room to absorb extra slack. I was looking at the space between the coils and the fuel lines but it is not flat and very close to the top of the firewall.

Wife and 1/3 of the kids are out of town through Sunday so hopefully I'll be on VEMS by Monday.

Sorry guys, it seems to be a trend to take a break after BBQ :D I have the harness installed but I need to get some connectors (TPS, CPS, Hall, etc) so that I can avoid chopping the stock harness just in case I need to swap back (pre-turbo). I also have decided to go with a turbo oil filter mount so I can run a shorter feed line; I need to find one.

The "good" news is that I start working 2nd shift on 12/20 so I'll have more daylight to hit scrap yards and wrench.

I've got the 034 oil filter sandwich adapter for oil feed. Works good!
