Coming from someone named ringbearer I think I'd have to agree. Get a set of the proper rings for the pistons.
Ha! Good point
Looking good man, you're getting close!

8.5:1. Boooooooost. I'm hoping to get it to Brady before Carlisle, but if not I might get some knock phones from Marc to do a little timing work myself.

Ugh, accidentally deleted a post.
Anyway, block and head are both assembled. Block with clutch and everything ready to go, head minus valve cover (obviously) and throttle body etc.
I think I'm going to approach the build by installing the block tomorrow. Then I'll hook up everything, plumbing, electrical etc... and then install the head and turbo when I get them in the mail from Hank.
Here's where I'm at. Head:

Block 1

Block 2

Ew, you should do something with that intake manifold tomorrow instead of installing the block lol

I was thinking the same thing, It may bug you down the road but I know all about not having enough time to do it exactly how you want to.
Re: Matt's 87 4ktq - "4 FOX SNAKES"
LOL. Yeah... It's actually really easy to install without the guides, so I could rip it out at any time without much drama. I don't even really know why they had the guides in the first place based on how easy it went in. Just one 6mm allen with a ball end.
I'll paint it black just for you, Chris.
But seriously, I'd have to grind it down a bit, somehow get all the fucking absorbed-into-the-pores crinkle paint off, and then paint it again. If I can just soak it in something I might tackle it. If I have to scrape it all off, no way josé.

I didn't mention the board sander

Re: Matt's 87 4ktq - "4 FOX SNAKES"
I'd blast it if I had a blast cabinet, but if I didn't and was in a rush I'd probably just throw it on like you are probably going to do. I don't blame you, I'd want to be driving that thing too!

That's how I feel. But I'll have a go at it tomorrow. We have some gasket stripper and other stuff around that'll kill ya, so why not. I'll at the very least grind down the fugly welds and if the wrinkle doesn't come off, POR over everything.

Re: Matt's 87 4ktq - "4 FOX SNAKES"
Oh, one other thing I should mention. So far the fit of the STR manifold has been pretty good. I did have to grind down a teensy bit of the wg-manifold connection to get the two to sit pretty, but other than that it's been great. As Hank mentioned in the other thread, I guess we'll see when it comes to installing the downpipe.

Soooo pansy
. I <3 compression! 9.5 or 10 for my build...whenever it happens.
Re: Matt's 87 4ktq - "4 FOX SNAKES"
My issue with the STR manifold was that the compressor housing hit the runners. I'm running an old T3/T4 so the housing may be a bit bigger, but the turbo flange doesn't really sit proud of the log at all so it makes an issue. I had Hank make me a 1/2" thick spacer, which put the turbo REALLLY close to the frame rail. It works fine, but that definitely screwed everything up as far as 'perfect fitment'.
Also, none of the holes were drilled square with their flanges, so I had to run bolts instead of studs since I wouldn't have been able to bolt on the turbo especially with the spacer and longer studs on there.

Same thing with 034's log manifold. I just put a 3/8 spacer in there and it worked great.

My compressor cover damn near hits the stock manifold. I clocked it a tiny bit clockwise so it didn't touch.

Re: Matt's 87 4ktq - "4 FOX SNAKES"
I kind of see e85 as a short term thing. I don't think it's going to be around for too long - the subsidies are already stopping. How long before it's more expensive than gas, and then how long before it stops being sold because the idea that it's not green catches on? I'd like to still be driving this thing in ten years or so with the same setup I have now/will have soon.

Don't get me wrong, if it was available I'd use it but I wouldn't go to the extent of changing the fuel lines for it.

The car would also run fine on pump fuel at 9.5 or 10:1 without an issue
I've ran 28psi on 93 octane at stock 9.3 even without an upgraded intercooler.
Also, fuel line need not be changed. Or at least mine haven't been negatively affected to date.

I agree with you on the availability of E85 in the long run, I don't have any close to me so it's not an issue for me but many people will be bummed when the price goes up and it gets harder to find. You know like when your dealer gets busted
