Me too! Right now I’m working on figuring out axles. I’ve fit b7 and b5 s4 front axles in the front spindles, and b5 s.4th rears bolt right up. I am working with DSS to utilize their b5 cv/hub upgrades, and the s8 inner cv’s. If they’ll work with me for custom bars that would be great. If they don’t, then I will move to another company.

B5 s4 big cv into CQ spindle.

How much bigger is the B5S4 CV than the Cq?

Yeah I’ve never had a problem with them before, at 760+ ftlbs, so here’s to hoping!

I too can’t wait to see this thing driving. Everything about this project is winning.

If you need custom axles I used RCV Performance to make the ones for Quattromog. Top quality product and lifetime guarantee. Hard to beat that.

Excellent thanks. I’ll look into them! I’ll definitely be doing some calling around.

On another note, got the B7 S4 rear diff ready to drop into the car. Brackets done! This was actually a whole lot of fun!

^^^^ more info on this would be great!!!

How do they compare on length at stock mounting position? Does it affect which axles and propshaft(s) you can use?

Diff is the same length, same axle/driveshaft flanges, but the output flanges are slightly wider. Not much. Maybe 1/3” each. MIGHT be able to use stock axles. Havnt tried though.

11” wide vs 11.75” wide at the flanges. Just measured.

And no, they’re not the same final drive, and I’m sure the b7 one is much stronger.

Great idea and the fabrication looks very good (I was tempted to say easy but stopped as it would take me quite a while!).

Thanks, I got a few of the welds a little hot, but that’s fine with me. My first time fabricating anything with this new welder, and I love having the capability to do anything. My wife even said the welder has paid for itself already!

It might be different on the CQs, but the actual relay switch/button on my 4000, as well as my A4 were the things "responsible" for properly functioning signals and flashers. Might be something to look into/mess with if you're missing it.

Amazing work on the car!

This project is really looking good! I'm trying to put B5 S4 outer cv's in mine as well. Looking forward to reading more!

So this week I was really feeling like getting caught up on some things that I hadn’t gotten to but reallly were bothering me. Last Friday 2 friends came over, had some beers and removed the headliner and sunroof etc, broke a lot of old brittle interior trim while at it.

I replaced the metal sunroof with a glass panel, cuz I love real sunroofs. Then I got some rs2 grey oh shit handles and other little bits. Then I flocked the a,b and c pillars as well as the headliner in charcoal grey. It worked out really really well!! $60 and a couple hours to revamp the whole upper half of the interior and fix the VERY saggy headliner. While the headliner was out I also popped in a MK6 radio antennae shark fin. Classy.

I also had some time to rebuild/revamp the b6 rear calipers I had off of a part-out car in my driveway, so now we’re rockin b6 s4 300mm rear brakes! Excellent.

4.0t inner cv, to b5 outer cv custom length axles all the way around. Shipping out to have them copied in HyTuff alloy. Was quoted 1.5-2 week turnaround. It’s getting real.

I can get the blinker/hazard light to light up in the dash no problem, but the actual blinkers don't work. I've tried both a 2 and 3-pin relay but can't seem to figure out where the blinker signal is sourced from. I figured the relay under the dash was the blinker relay but there was clearly something within the instrument cluster, not just a blinker light in there.

Did you ever get this sorted?

Havnt even tried yet. Haha. I will take a day sometime soon to get this, oil pressure and fuel level to read right. I just haven’t taken the time to get back into it.
