Re: Any gen2 24v Cummins guys on the forum?
I'm in Qc, so lots of salt here in winter.
Sorry for not being clear i meant to say the linkage on the steering column. Usually it's the weird type of "joint" between the steering box and bottom shaft that gets pretty loose.

Re: Any gen2 24v Cummins guys on the forum?
Only have experience on a 1st gen mostly as plow truck but usually the linkage to the steering box is the culprit. Borgeson makes some nice replacement shafts with ujoints. Other than that watch out for frame cracks and you'll probably end up in the auto tranny if you're hauling or rough with it. I ...

Not sure what's your budget or if you have the wagner/evo rs2 or stock rs2 mani but atpturbo sells a few k26 flange hotsides that will bolt up. There's a few options to pick 28r,30r,and 35r.

future So you're saying get the damper and flywheel zero balanced and then get the crank balanced with the bob weights? That way i can change the damper and flywheel at some point? Will getting a lighter flywheel in the future change any of that?
If the new flywheel/damper is zero'd too then yea ...

Re: First time building a 5cyl
You could take a look at wossners they have a kit for the S2 81 up to 83.5mm @ 8:1cr. I have them in my engine, pretty solid pistons. I wouldn't build on an engine that has no crosshatch, you could just deglaze and run the ng but... If you're already buying pistons, might as well just do a fresh ...

Damn! Not in my budget but it would make for a nice mid engine project, adapting a transfer case at the back for front traction could be even cooler.

Nice, might need some adjustment for when you get on full boost.
I added a bunch of weight in the back till I bottomed to the bump stops when I tested my new wheels to make sure but I'm on stock suspension.

If I move them I’d have to verify that they are close but not hitting .
Yea, abit of playdoh and a cellophane cover or something similar less spongy, maybe clay, should do the trick. Cut off excess/sides with a razor and it should tell you your clearances you have to play with.

I wouldn't move the coil grounds to body, old oem wires sounds like a good idea, shot in the dark but maybe lower ignition dwell a little.
If the sensor is aftermarket it could be giving you issues, I've tried one of those and the spikes were lower than oem on the scope, so pretty useless.

I'm curious how does this hold against the block? Pressfit?
I wouldn't drain back to block either, the mix that comes out of there is nasty.
Also in my case, not having something setup to recoup or evacuate the vapors on the catch, you get some "good smells".

Hopefully not, cause it sucks, but could be cracked pistons if the crank vent air pulsates at idle.jolio1994 wrote:Took off the intercooler hoses and there was a puddle of oil in the bottom of the turbo inlet pipe

lol nah, this is the nicer sgi type. The one with droopy rear sides and oem hood pin provisions at wrong place but right looking side vent and 6 rears, just had too much sun over the years.
Shoulda painted, ...well high speed might have contributed.

Could be subframe alignment too. Also, not sure if this helps but when I swapped to bigger rims and tires I had to back off some toe from front, was way too loose/scary at high speed.

Hmm, what, your goal is building a car for taking spots in traffic? Personally i'd just get an r32 golf for that.
Mind you for instant torque on tap a head that has vvt and a turbo with vgt would do well.

What are you doing about the after-run cooling? Cooling fan will run wayyy longer without a recirc pump.
Was kinda hard on my battery and rabbit style fuse box.
