A hole saw makes quick work of the rubber bushing, I then use a hacksaw to get a notch started on the sleeve and finish with an air hammer to collapse the sleeve on itself

that rear bar is a must - I worked on a body repair CQ and got an appreciation for how little horizontal metal there is in the rear - the panel behind the taillights isnt the heaviest gauge metal and I think its spot welded with seam sealer. Jack - I'd have your shop thoroughly go through the cooling and AC systems before the move. Other than that, normal maintenance

The issue turned out to be stupid simple.
The nuts on bracket that connects the tie rods together at the rack where loose.
Not sure how that happened as they where new nylock nuts last year.
Thighten the nuts and an alingment and all is well.

I didn't realize the B6 a4 had an 01E, is it a 4:11 final or did you swap rear ends as well?
I had a back seat ride in the vomit commit at BBQ last year. With 3 of us in the car, it pulled harder in 4th gear at THAT time than any of my cars in 2nd.

I've fixed a LOT of Audi bumpers at this point, and the 3M stuff has held up amazingly.

i had a similar issue with my black coupe..turns out that all the issues were due to a bent front subframe - My mechanic (Lee Malo - Advanced Technologies in Gloucester MA) spent a lot of time measuring the subframe and ball joint/control arm spacing.
