Hey folks,
Considering going to DBW for my Vanagon to eliminate the 12 ft of cable....
I can't seem to find any info on a Throttle body that would be a good candidate for an AAN intake. I'm guessing an adapter plate will be required. Is anyone producing any plates?
Suggestions for a good TB to use ...

Re: Question about 60-2 rear main seal
The sensor for the petrol cars is looking at the 14th tooth after the missing teeth at TDC #1.
There is another version I've seen for diesels that is different.

Re: Question about shifting ignition order VEMS
"If you set 8 teeth then it will think tdc is at 8 teeth etc"
Hmm, in all my reading, I never got the impression that this was the case.
It's was my understanding that the combination of "TDC after trigger" and FTT told the ecu where TDC for cyl 1 is.
But, then, that's why I'm confused about my ...

Re: Question about shifting ignition order VEMS
yea, I've got all the TDCs marked on the crank pulley too.
I could swap distributor wires, but not really interested in a mechanical botch to help out my fancy EFI!
changing FTT tooth gets the results, but I just don't understand why...

Re: Question about shifting ignition order VEMS
I'm still puzzling over this, and wonder if anyone can enlighten me. The VEMs forum seems pretty quiet, so I'm posting here too.
To recap - the issue is that the VAG 60-2 wheel set up as per factory settings (trigger at 14th tooth after missing) results in A timing light firing at marks on my crank ...

Thanks Chris.
Yes, relay ground to ECU, but I was not sure about power ground.
Well, I don't have any good pics, but the VW syncro vanagon transaxle has some well known limitations under increased stress, like more HP, increased weight, larger tires...

Re: identify Blau 272 cam?
Well, I measured, and the cam I have has a lift of 10mm or so. Guessing it's a stock cam, as the blau 272 is supposed to be 12mm as far as I can tell.

identify Blau 272 cam?
Folks,
I've got a head with what I believe to be a Blau 272 cam...
How would I confirm that?
Do they have any markings identifying them? This cam has the VAG casting marks; were blau cams regrinds of factory units?
Thanks!

Aux Pump ground point
Folks,
I'm installing a transaxle lube circulation pump to be controlled by a VEMS box, via a relay.
After digging around on the net a bit, I could not find an answer to this question:
Should, can, or should I not connect the pump ground wire to my common ground point at the ECU?

yes, the air circulates as normal it seems - changes output locations appropriately, etc.
I hooked up Vagcom and had no issues noted with controls either

Well, experiments this morning had good results...
Shifting FTT is an option for this problem! I was thinking I needed to shift it 24 teeth to get far enough, but that was incorrect.
I shifted FTT to 12 (from 0) and timing light now fires correctly at #1 TDC, and all cylinders.

Question about shifting ignition order VEMS
Well, now I'm stumped.
5 cylinder, VAG Hall 60-2 trigger, and distributor secondary- all set to factory alignment.
TDC after trigger set to 78, corresponding with Hall at tooth 14 (13 after FTT).
Triggerlog looks clean without errors.
Timing light on #1 plug wire flashes at #4 TDC (with ignition ...

Re: interpret VEMS trigger log?
figured it out.
primary trigger settings Configlet for 5 cyl 60-2 sets trigger edge to rising as default - I failed to change trigger edge to falling for VAG 60-2 RMS trigger.
Now clean trigger log!
But, timing light shows cylinder 1 firing at cylinder 4.
Guess I need to alter the ignition outputs ...

Re: Limit to number of sensors to pin 28 ?
I figured,
TPS is in pin 29, but I'm looking at Hall/Hall triggers and probably a hall wheel speed.
Any idea of the draw for the Hall on the rear main seal 60-2 sensors?
Looks like the hKZ101 dizzy Hall is in the 10 mA range
A large wheels speed sensor looks to be in the 40 mA.

Two triggers,
wheel speed?
Maybe others?

Exactly! See my previous two posts - so we came to the same conclusion.

Which, now that I understand it better, is what the AAN has as well- it just includes the pancake valve to control the flow.
Guess I need to re-work my crank vent system a little to include a low vac vent line to the intake pre-TB.

Would there be a problem teeing off the line that ...

Hey, thanks for the work!
Correct, on the AAN there is a three way split at the crank, and the "one-way" "bleeder valve".
I don't have a three way split, nor the one-way valve, because I don't have a turbo.
The one way valve is there to keep boost in the Intake from pressurizing the ...

Well, seems to be the case - started it up till warm, and sure enough, it started squealing.
So I pulled the breather line off the throttle body, and it went silent. Kind of surprised how much vacuum at the throttle body- a real suck!
Anyway, time for a restrictor.
But, from the diagrams I've seen ...
