Neacail's Volvo 760 T6 build

Hello all,

This will be place to document my Volvo 760 T6 build. I'm a diehard Volvo guy, own a Volvo repair shop in my town, have had about 45 Volvos. Have built a few cool cars for customers of mine, but never really done a nice build on a Volvo for myself.

Fell into a URS4 for a few years, got ...

Re: Kennys UrS4 (Volvo turbo to BW S257 SX-E Turbo Built eng

The coating all depends on the prep.
If it flaked off they may not have used an aggresive enough blast media (should be somewhere around 80 grit aluminum oxide) and may not have outgassed it properly.
My downpipe, wastegate and turbine housing held up incredibly well, because I blasted them myself ...

I just use Kolbenschmidt rings. They made the pistons, stands to reason their rings are good too.

I've always just shoved my arm in there, grabbed it and twisted it out. Wearing a glove, of course. I've done a few and they've always come out that way. With the spare tire well out you can just climb right in there.

That's what I was thinking. If they're not a stepper drive, you should be able to calibrate it with a resistor.

Re: '93 S4 - 4.2 swap? 4.2 swap. 5cyl stuff for sale soon.

While I'm sad to see this happen to such a beautiful car I can stand behind the 4.2 swap.

If you plan on using the stock Motronicz I have an extra RS6 Ecu, Harness, and complete fuel rail with RS6 injectors and 4bar fpr I'd sell and can help you integrate it into the car.

The coolant temp and ...

Re: '93 S4 - S257SX-E build for 2020

Welp, I melted the #2 piston and possibly exhaust valves. Pictures will be up when I tear it down.
Was running really well, got it to run 12.65 @ 111 mph with a slipping clutch.
On friday at the drag strip, it slowed down a bit and was misfiring, which I attributed to my water meth possibly flooding ...

Hey Kenny, when you're doing your battery cables and stuff, remind me to lend you the proper crimpers. I've got the hydraulic ones and manual ones to do a nice job. Can get you the nice plated cast copper ends too.

Re: Kenny' s B3 Coupe Build

I ruined one of my manifolds by off-gassing it with the cups still in. They melted right in there and I was never able to properly clean them out of there. I might drill it right out and weld in some aluminum injector bungs.

I'm just running the original lifters. I had read that the lightweight ones were junk, and the only other robust option was solid lifters and shims.
I was thinking 8K should be okay, it really feels like it wants to go there.

Re: '93 S4 - S257SX-E build for 2020

Well, she's up and running, no leaks or anything so far.
My cam timing was advanced almost a tooth due to a broken crank sprocket. Glad it didn't come loose and bend any valves.
I think that may have contributed to it not being as responsive as I would've liked with the Volvo turbo.

Anyhow, with ...

Re: '93 S4 - S257SX-E build for 2020

Built a turbo hanger today, it can fully support the weight of the turbo on its own, and is quite sturdy. Made with stainless, trying to decide between leaving it raw or powder coating it. Also made a heat shield for the turbine housing to try to keep heat off the fuel filter and lines. Might revise ...

Re: My 1993 URS4

So it's been a while, but I've got an update now.

The Volvo K24 was a lot of fun, but I started running in to an issue where it was knocking VERY hard under boost. Bad enough that I figured it did some damage. Looked in the bores with a camera, it appeared that my #3 ring land was broken. Parked ...

I just crammed mine inside the housing. I also replaced the low beam projector with a Moritmoto BiXenon, which takes up less room than the original projector, so there's more space in there.

I'm tearing down a spare engine in the next couple weeks, for a piston for mine. It sat ouside though, and doesn't turn over. I may or may not be successful, if you don't find one before then I'll let you know how it works out.

This might be the way to go, it's bench testable and can be calibrated. I've got an oscilloscope with a frequency generator so it might be best to just give VEMS a ...

Turbo speed signal to VEMS

Yes I searched.
I'm getting a Borg Warner S257SX-E for my AAN, and I'm running VEMS PnP.
I've tried googling, and I've searched here as well and if there is info, I didn't find it.
What capability does VEMS have for turbo speed input software wise? The hardware/wiring side I'm not worried about ...

Re: My 1993 URS4

I'm picking up a '94 parts car today, with an allegedly blown engine. There's nothing poking out of the block that I can see, and the coil cover hasn't been off in a while by the looks of it. I'm hoping it's just a burned valve or crispy piston and will be a buildable block for future endeavors. It ...
