Been a bit since i've updated. Been busy working on my garage renovation.

Finished installing the b3 90 1 piece bumper. Needed the bumper, the shock mounts, the side brackets from the fender transplanted onto the cq fender, and some trimming of the bumper.

Brush Bar fitment off an xterra. Just needs some cutting and brackets welded on.

Right now i'm working on resealing the tail lights, i swear i did it before (maybe it was a different cq i did it on?) but apparently its leaking. Bought some butyl rubber to redo it soon.

So I decided to go to 40's in a bag for the first time, the coupe needed a lot of stuff done so I was just going to ride with friends. Something made me change my mind though and decided last minute to try to get the coupe on the road.
registered and insured it on friday about 4pm.
6pm the surgery began;
lifted suspension so there's about a 5" tire-fender gap
turned the offset solid mounts to max caster and then eyeballed the alignment (i got close, turned out to have slight toe in, camber was very close)
resealed both tail lights
put rear interior all back in
got the stereo working again (hardly used it thanks to lovely 5pot noises)
wired up turn signals in the rs2 lights temporarily
painted the tsw imola wheel center disc and nut
did a bunch of other lil things.
4am the surgery ended.

drove the car to wally world 10 miles away to get a new bulb for the tail light, drove it back. "Thought" i torqued down all the wheels (i might have been a little tired). Then got ready and drove an hour and a half away to meet up with friends, then drive 3hrs to the show. Sadly i only made it another hour and a nasty shaking started from the front right so we immediately pulled over and looked at the passenger front wheel, couldn't figure it out so we left the car and I hopped in my friends chevy 3800 turbo volvo's back seat with no seatbelts and road to the show fearing for my life lol. After the show my friends dropped me off to the car and we quickly realized that the front left wheel was loose, so we tightened it up and test drove it and it was fixed. I was swearing up a storm that i didn't get to take the car to the show because of loose lug bolts.

Anyways, the car drove pretty well for the 4hrs i driven it so well. Needs a proper alignment and some other things.
to do list for carlisle:
install my dual round votex lights
finish speedline wheels, mount bfg all terrain tires
modify inner fenders for clearance with the tires
install allroad fender flares
center driveshaft carrier
lower rear subframe 1" with new bushings for control arms
fix any other rubbing issues
**MAY finish 3" lifted coilover suspension** it's probably not smart to attempt to rush that and then cripple myself for the show
**MAY finish mounting the brush guard** need money for fab time

pics!
Image

Image
4/5 speedline wheels didn't come out so well with the plastic bolts, so i removed them and will be installing black anodized aluminum ones
Image
1/5 of the speedline wheels came out fine, so this will be the spare mounted on top of the roof basket.

Haha yeah you did, and we checked the wheel that we felt the vibration on. I thought I tightened them all down :(

so a bit of an update, I took a welding class and decided to start work on mounting the brush bar i had laying around. I took some 6" 3/8" aluminum angle and cut 4" pieces to weld to the existing aluminum crash bar on the coupe.

clamped up
Image
Alloy mig welded with a spool gun, instructor said i did pretty damn well for a first timer.
Image
put the brush bar on to check for fitment, nice tight fit.
Image
next step was to cut the bumper so that the brackets would slide through. Also mounted up the fog lights to the front.
Image
Image
one thing i definitely didn't like was how bulky the brush bar looks on the car, i didn't like the top bar that was on there, not how much metal there was towards the bottom.
Image

so i cut the top bar off and made some nice cuts on the bottom that should work with the skid plate once i get it bent up right.
Image
Image
much more slimmed down
Image

Then i went to the local cars and coffee and dan mcboost just happened to take some nice photos of the car. woot woot.
Image
Image
Image
Image

Next step was to mount the winch. I took some of the same 3/8" angle aluminum and cut out a piece that was roughly 3.5" by 1' to brace the back of the crash bar to then drill through and mount the winch. Better safe than sorry when my crash bar buckles and rips off with 5000lbs pulling on it.
Image
Image
came out pretty decent, used my new miller syncrowave 210 welder. Lotsa of chatting with loxxrider about which welder to buy.
Image

I thought it would be funny to take the car to waterfest and park the car in the show field up on a stump. It was pretty well received next to all of the lowered stanced cars.
Image
There was a golf country there owned by Jaime from orchid euro, these are the cars that inspired me to make my coupe the way it is. So of course i had to go take some pictures next to it with my cellphone lol
Image
Image
Image

to do list in this order:
aluminum 1/4" fairing to mount the offroad lights to
wire up offroad lights and winch
lift car using spacers
skid plate
repaint and body work
upgrade the motor (hopefully by this point my 200 will be sold and I can get vems from marc)

Some other updates to the garage since the winter.
got a new 56" toolbox (harbor freight but its built pretty damn nice for the price)
Image
lateral/vertical band saw (harbor freight again)
Image
portable welding table (ok, maybe i went a lil crazy at harbor freight)
Image
and finally my new welder, the miller syncrowave 210, it's a tig welder with mig process option. plenty of power and versatility to do what i plan on doing. Also picked up a watercooler and watercooled torch plus a whole bunch of other accessories. (this is why i couldn't afford the vems anymore lol)

Glad to see a new post finally! I have to say, it's so much more satisfying reading a logical progression of explanation and pictures here than seeing a pic of a brush guard here, and a new wheel there on Facebook.

I think you'll be really happy with that welder and it was good seeing you at Carlisle and waterfest! Just too bad my time was limited both times!

I knew you'd need to lift it more after that silly golf country made the cq look short lol

Seeing Corey's CQ next to yours is funny! Both look awesome, but such a dramatic difference in style!
