Cory's Lifted / Rallyx CQ - Winch Installed

Postby frostyflax17 » Wed Sep 26, 2012 5:35 pm

Needed a new daily, and thanks to someone posting up the Auctions America listing for 3 coupe quattros, i decided to bank on it and hope i won. And i did.

Plans for this car is basically a rally look for right now, reiger spoiler, s2 bumpers, big brakes, hubs, some custom grills and mudflaps, maybe some exterior vinyl like the audi rings on the lower door. Keep the motor stock for now excluding exhaust/intake

It'll then be just daily driven until i decide to add some power. I don't plan on rallying the car, maybe take it to some rallyx events when i know i have a backup car if i break something.

yes that is mold, but it cleaned right off, you should see it now. after pictures coming after i do some interior modifications

first thing done was fixing the leak in the rear, the lil bucket was full over stagnant water when i went to get the car. Lucky i knew exacly where it was coming from.

Removed tail lights and cleaned up behind them, removed old butyl rubber sealent, cleaned, applied new 3M butyl rubber and put back on! looks perfect.

going to make use of these
first 10 miles of driving and i get a CEL, wouldn't be an audi if it didn't give me one of those

got my first cel after 10 miles of driving, it's christened!

Im really glad you saved this one. Saw my friend tonight who works for Auctions America and told him you got it. We were both pretty happy (and a bit surprised) at how cheap the car went for. Looks like a very complete and original car, which I love.

Bring it to Carlisle next year :D

no idea who got the other cars, they sold though for a lil less then this one.

this cq getting some of peters goodies, plus something special that is hopefully coming over from the UK in the next couple weeks.

radiator is going in today i hope with other maintenance stuff. I have to work tonight so we'll see how much i can get done. might end up driving the opel again to work. lol

Glad this went to a good home.

I would have liked to have gone to this auction, but was out of town. Alot of interesting stuff there, probably just as well I missed it.

some things went for a lot more then i estimated, some went for way less. definitely interesting experience.

towing that car back was scary, the jeep is just an 04 grand cherokee with the straight 6. no where near enough power or a long enough wheel base to be towing cars on a 2,000lb tongue heavy u-haul trailer... especially through the hills of vermont. Some hills i was going about 25mph in 1st gear up the hill. The hills seemed to last forever, both up and down, wearing out my brakes.

Anyways, i figured i'd give a lil taste of whats to come with this car, I've bought a couple things/colelcted some items that i'll install on this one instead of my other project.

over the next couple weeks

interior wise:
s2 steering wheel
brushed aluminum trim

exterior:
v6 coupe/s2 w/o washers front bumper
custom s2/rs2 look alike rear bumper to move the plate down
rs2 tub light
reiger wing
rally mud flaps
brushed aluminum mirrors
vinyl audi rings on lower door trim
buff and polish

performance:
brullen exhaust
possibly injector upgrade
porsche big red front brakes with a8 rotors
porsche rear brakes with 300mm s4 rotors
5x112 knuckle/hub swap (thanks peter!)
o.z. superturismos/gunmetal b5s4 winter studded wheels
poly rear diff and rear subframe mounts

all that plus just about every maintenance item replaced, the rear subframe looks a bit crusty so i'm going to swap in my rear subframe from my 90 with the bigger rear sway bar.

this car is going to look fast and stop fast, but it'll just be a slow reliable car... for the time being.

bring on the haterade.

making the mud flaps out of 60a 1/4inch thick neoprene rubber. then attaching an aluminum plate (rivet) to the backside with some vinyl stickers for giggles.

should look interesting. just hope the rubber will hold up the way i want.

had a productive day today, bought another of my custom grills for my mkII b3/s2 lights, last one was a lil showy i think.

bought some b4 headlight pigtails, the proper steering wheel copper ring to work with the s2 wheel so that the horn works, and checked out the bumpers that were supposed to be painted... they were, just the wrong color

the bumpers were accidently painted in "brilliant black metallic" which looked amazing, but alas, the car is "brilliant black" paint code

here's brilliant black in the form of my old CQ that i miss. (note grill and rs2 lights)

Wow, I really like that grill and headlight setup. Do you have any more pictures of that? I was actually thinking about doing something really similar with my CQ. Thanks in advance.
