Car hit 180,000 miles a couple days ago, changed the oil with synthetic 5w30 for the winter. the 10w40 and 0w40 that i would normally put in was jacked up in price so i wnet with what was on sale.

i'm going to check out some saab aeroblade 3 spoke wheels in 15" for rallyx or w/e. Hope they're in good shape for the price.

Passed on this set of aeroblades, he had 2 different versions. I wanted the 3-spoke style pictured on someones cups around here. He had that style but it was a 4x112 or something like that. His other set was more full faced with some slots, wasn't a fan of the looks but they were 4x108

Anyways, new windshield is installed, took them 3 tries to get the side mouldings in place properly with no major gaps. But it's crystal clear and no wind noise. So I'm happy.

Getting window tint done on 1-7-2013 on my birthday haha.

In other news, I installed the lower parcel shelf. What a PITA. You have to remove these 2 brackets
Image

Then either remove this bracket as well or cut it where the blue lines are.
Image

Then there is the issue of the wiring harness. It goes right where the box fits up in the back left. I pushed it up as much as I could and then got the shelf piece in. You'll need some of those 8mm small bolts found randomly throughout the car like the ones holding the center console in. Don't over tighten! I didn't realize it was that tight and it split through the plastic. I used a wider washer and fixed that.

I'll take a picture of that later. It's about 1/4 off at one of the sides but barely noticable.

If you really want to tint some lenses, I would do option #1.

SNOW!!!!
Cars first snow session with me. It was a blast. I learned a bit more about how to use the e-brake a bit better to whip the tail end around. Wish i had known that for the rallyx. Also learned a but about clutch dropping after a good slide. All in all i feel like i can control the car better sideways. Almost to the point where i would do some stupid Ken Block shit around corners with curbs... famous last words.

I did some donuts in a giant empty parking lot and did some drifts. Then i realized that i was being watched by an orange honda fit. jealous... or scared? So i left and did some more slides on the way home.

Car felt very planted in the snow and ice. Road was completely covered and no plows had been through. I was going about 45 and the car didn't shimmy at all like other cars would.

wish i had someone to get out and take some pictures of the shenanigans

my buddy dan who has connections in europe and has had a few coupes and S2's (one of which is stateside that he imported), had a couple wings. I found out he had it and offered me a great deal for it along with countless other things i've boughten off of him. He's also the guy whose taught me a lot about the car and given me some experience. He doesn't have any remaining though. I "believe" you can still get them from orangeport tuning possibly.

The spoiler is currently at my friends getting painted Todd, he's killing me. It was supposed to be done over the summer. He painted it poorly so i sent it back to him and he hasn't had a chance to get it back to me. I seriously have the worst luck with painting. My wheels being powdercoated, my TT's front bumper, my coupes reiger spoiler. I need to learn to paint so i can cut out all this time waiting.

Happy birthday to me.

Was driving home today and the exhaust came off again. I really need to get it to my friend mike so he can make a more permanent fix.

My undertray fell down in the front. How? I have no idea. but i drove long enough with it dragging (was on a busy highway), that it completely destroyed it. le sigh. I wanted a more sturdy one anyways to protect from rocks.

I had scheduled my window tinting to be done for today for my present to myself. I didn't know i'd have another expense...
Crushed my old basic phone on an elliptical, so i bought myself my first smart phone, a Galaxy S3, it rocks to say the least, but now i'm really broke.
Alas, the galaxy takes some awesome photos.

Washed the coupe up nicely, it still shines... kinda.

OH, and i put the ford thunderbird wheels on, they have studded continental tires, slightly smaller then the firestones. i believe they're 205/55/15 or something like that. Also threw on the snowboard rack.

Nice!

Vittorio had a great idea for the skid plate. Involving welding two box tubes to the bottom of the car by the trans, and a slightly smaller tube to fit inside welded to the plate. Only need to worry about the front mounts for removal!

soab stupid exhaust keeps coming undone. funny, if i give it enough gas off the line it'll reseat itself back in the pipe. how that happens not sure.

Simple stuff, but it's annoying.

unfortunately my welder has been so busy we haven't had any time to schedule the extension to be welded on, so he's just going to cut me a 2" piece of 2.75" tube and i'll use 2 band clamps instead of the 1.

come spring i'll have it fixed properly so i don't need to use any band clamp at all. attach it straight to the resonator/cat.

had a semi productive day

I swapped back over to my b4 lights because they are much brighter and less fragile then the votex's. those are better kept safe for nicer weather driving.
This means i had to either put in my mesh grill again or make something. I decided to remake my plymouth grill. I spent a bit more time getting it to fit properly and securing it. I attempted to paint it and it didn't come out as well as i wanted, but it looks good from a short distance. All black instead of the old dark chrome one i made.

fixed my exhaust temporarily. It's not coming apart now. Exhaust paste is messy crap.

Then i tackled this.
Image

my glass sunroof was the only rust on the whole car, and it was rotted like nothing i'd seen before. it pushed the rubber seal up in the front and the metal trim, so i was getting an annoying wind noise.
I put in my spare metal one i had the the seal was perfect on. I'll see if i can get a new frame for the glass, it's perfect in the glass part, but the frame is caputs.

already separated from the glass,
Image

another note, if you have a glass sunroof and put a metal one in, the trim piece will have to be removed. otherwise it gets in the way. the slider can stay though.

Next i played with the interior a bit. most of "Red" lighting wasn't working, including my abs switch. So i went through and replaced most of the bulbs. I ran outta good bulbs though. The abs switch works, but no light. My Oil pressure gauge is a slightly dimmer bulb, but i now have my diff lock button lit up as well as the drivetrain piece, center tray, rear tray, and cig lighter.

I need to get my hands on some seat heater switches with lights that work. i have like 10 switches and none of the lights work on them.

while i had the center panel out, i replaced my extremely worn shifter mechanism with a bilzcat short shifter. Non adjustable unfortunately, but DAMN, that makes a huge freaking difference. I never had a short shifter in any of my coupes before. It's very clean feeling with no real play. I'm going to replace the linkage arm down the road with a solid one that i got off a member here.

Question though, why would the radiator fan turn on full blast every time i turn on my climate control. also, my climate control doesn't control the front main vent flappers when heating, but it does when it's blowing cold air. Ideas on that? i swapped out the control unit and it didn't make any difference.

Had a busy night

i did too many things all at once and now i am left narrowing down what i did wrong because the car is pissy at me now.

Fixed/Replaced:
- Window Regulator
- Rear Hatch Struts
- Door Alignment
- Distributor Cap and Rotor
- Swapped Intake manifold and gaskets
- Painted Valve Cover
- Replaced Valve Cover Gasket
- Rerouted vacuum lines
- Deleted EGR (exhaust gas recirculation)
- Cleaned Throttle body and modified it
- Installed 034 Injector Upgrade
- Installed silicone intake boot
- Installed Big maf
- Attempted idle stabilizer valve (ISV) delete

Issue Now:
I have idle hunt pretty bad right now which usually means a vacuum leak. I think when i modified the throttle body (which i thought i read somewhere you could do this) i removed that little restriction plate, but that left 2 tiny little screw holes in the throttle plate. Would this cause the issue? doesn't the smaller plate open anyways at idle? It's still measured air.

I am pretty positive i have no vacuum leaks hose wise. I swapped the intake manifold with the EGR crap on it for one without it. i just had to reroute the vacuum line for the ISV. which i had attempted to remove and control the idle via the adjustment screw but i'm not sure if i was doing that right.

Shiny 034 injectors and fuel rail thanks to Varia
Image

I lined the inside of my old heat shield i made with some some more insulation

Dang, nice job cleaning up the engine bay, looks awesome.
Did you get a chip to adjust for the big MAF swap?IDK if that could effect idle or not? BTW I like how you did your heat shield for the intake, have you noticed much difference with getting less heat soak?

Not really noticable. And no chip, it didn't make a difference whether the stock or big maf was installed. I honestly think its the throttle body. Or just have something connected wrong off the throttle body. Gotta review the Bentley.

attempting something slightly silly.
Image
took me an hour to do the first pipe which was the easiest, had to get the wrap just right
Image
second pipe done, the space constriction is a bit ridiculous.
Image

i then ran outta wrap, 50'x1" only gets you two pipes, so if you get 1" wide wrap, plan on getting 25' per tube.

i also started this project, repainting the buttons on the ConcertII radio
Image
removing buttons
Image
this harness doesn't look quite right... didn't test it out before i tore the radio apart.
Image

At 181,500miles
all the while i replaced the distributor cap and rotor, going to replace the gear with a metal one shortly. I'm still having issues with it not liking to start right up, it takes quite a few cranks randomly. Maybe it doesn't like those E3 spark plugs i put in awhile back.

Exhaust still has a leak, but it's staying together, the rattle will go away when i put the headers in with the gutted cat.

OH, and my spoiler is painted finally, i picked it up. I am installing it this saturday hopefully.
