Custom Sized Head Gaskets

Postby Dave » Thu Apr 11, 2013 1:01 pm

We just added these to our website since we have already been making them for customers! This is a very inexpensive option for anyone going big!

Yeah, we are boring these out to 83.25 as our biggest size, so there is a reliable way to have 83mm bores now without the leak prone copper 83mm setup.

Yeah, just remember all those running 82.5mm or higher with the MLS.... The pistons come .024" out of the hole and the MLS is 82mm bore.... Nothing like bouncing a built motor pistons against a gasket till it gets sucked out the exhaust into the turbo :)

Hank, I thought that 82.5mm pistons were able to fit in the mls head gasket bores no? If not I guess I will be needing one of these which sucks because I already assembled the engine haha. I didn't notice the tight tolerance I guess.

They are 82mm bores on the gasket on standard mls and i would recommend a minimum of .25mm oversize for any misalignment issues.

Hey guys just a quick note on overbored head gaskets; Don't have the bore holes enlarged any farther than you have to - like boring to 83 when you have 82.5 pistons. It creates what is called "crevice volume" (bad) and thins the material in the most critical area for cylinder sealing. Especially critical for high boost motors. Cheers, Jeff @ FRP

Yes, we are boring .25mm(basically .005" on each wall) over on specific bores sizes, thus the reason we have 82.5 and 83mm options on the website. Jeff, I need to do some emailing to you!!

By keeping the gaskets in a fixture, we can keep the fire ring in tact too, which is nice.

are you able to do certain thicknesses as well? I dont think a stock MLS give a quench of .040" with the protruding pistons such as those on the 10vt and I know theres power to be had by getting a correct quench on these engines.
