E85 0-5v Input VEMS anytrim

Postby scottme262 » Mon Aug 14, 2017 9:38 pm

Hello Guys, I have searched for this and cannot find it.
I have a 1993 Audi S4 running the VEMS ecu. I have a Zeitronics flex fuel unit that gives a 0-5v signal for the ethanol content.
I just hooked it to the input for Anytrim Fuel trim on MCP3208Ch1 and am getting 1/2 the voltage showing in the scaling as the VEMS unit is receiving. Right now the ethanol content is 50% so it should be reading 2.5v in the software. It is getting 2.5v on its input (I just checked).

Is there a trim setting that I am not seeing that is halving the value the VEMS unit is using?
The firmware is 1.2.29 and the config is 1.2.23

Any help to get this to read the correct voltage would be appreciated.
Thank you
Scott

The problem has been solved by the EFI Express guys.
Pin2 on the econosel connector had backed out of the connector.
Plugged in and all good.
The Zeitronics unit is communicating perfectly and the anytrim now works as designed.

Could you give some more information on what you use? Is it the complete ECA-2 kit or just the sensor?
Also, which EC pin did you put the signal to?

Would need to be the complete kit... I bought the sensor and just input crude frequency into VEMS... works as well, less gear.

It was the complete kit from Zeitronics. I wanted the display, but yeah you can get the frequency output and use the wheel speed method that I don't know how to do :)
I have the display mounted in the ashtray so I can fill up and get the blend I want. Usually drive around the block and go back to top off with either fuel to get it where I want it. I'm OCD that way.
But that is a habit hold over from when I was running E85 blended down to E50 and using my Motronic ECU, by messing with fuel pressures to get it trimmed out. Worked ok, but you needed to be E47-E52 for it to not throw a code.

Now with the VEMS The output from the Zeitronics is 0-5 and it went to pin 2 channel 1 on the EC10 connector.
Marc had already put the scaling in the anytrim 1 for fuel and anytrim 2 for timing based on the ethanol content when I purchased the VEMS unit.
It is working great. Now on to Launch control!

LC took me like 2 years to figure out lol. This looks pretty cool and sure enough I'll need anytrim control using a flexfuel sensor after I rebuild the 3b. So your channel it's feeding, is it pulled-up and protected, just pulled-up, or something else I'm clueless abouy? Lol

I know its working, but I don’t know if the pull up, pull down etc.
I just contacted Marc and he reminded me that that channel was setup and ready for me.

I am not near my car and diagrams for a few weeks, if you wish I can look into it when I’m around it and let you know the settings

Yes that would be extremely helpful and I would be very grateful. Thanks!

also no rush as I'm currently and rebuild hell for the next 2 months lol
