2084 crank tool "replica"

Postby Justin517 » Mon Dec 09, 2013 1:49 pm

I know most of you guys make a lot of your own stuff, others already have the "real" tool... but for those who don't and done want to mess with making one... I needed one and my friend and I made one and he will be making more this week.

it is made from stainless and holds the crank right at TDC while loosening the bolt, while tightening it will be a bit before TDC but at that point everything should be timed and back together and the tool is only needed for final tightening... but if a buyer insists on having it "forked" at the end so the crank stays put no matter if yo are lefty-loosening or righty-tightening, we can talk and for a small additional fee it can be done.

looking for $80 shipped in continental USA for the standard tool as shown in the pic (except maybe with less sloppy notch cut, this is the first prototype)

PM me or post here if interested.

The production version is much nicer.

Lmk if you need one. I hope to have them in an online store soon.

Thinking $80 shipped is fair for a final price, input is welcomed.

Definitely a fair price. I don't have a need for one right this moment, but maybe later down the road (or maybe I'll just make one, but it would cost me as much in time and materials as this costs...)

I figured it was fair. Cheaper than the original which is a moot point anyway because they are NLA.

Plus as you said the hassle of ordering/purchasing the materials then assembling it properly (using engine or properly built jig) kind of outweighs just buying one from me! (us, my buddy mark is building them)

I'm pretty sure there are at least 3 available at this moment.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I returned from my honeymoon at the end of may and have been super busy getting back in the swing of things after being away for 3 weeks.

I have 2 of these on the shelf at work and will essentially be selling them through my job at Excelerate Performance. Shipped price (within continental US) is $90, I thought it would be $80 figuring I would just do a cheapo flat rate box but that is more work than just shipping them with UPS at work, so since the shipping method is different and a bit more expensive (albeit a bajillion times better than USPS) the cost is $10 more.

So, $90 shipped and I have 2 that can go out immediately once payment is received.

Keep in mind that this is for the 10v, 7A, and 3B engines, the later AAN is different as far as I know.

Feel free to email me at justin517 AT gmail DOT com, I'll likely see it a bit sooner than on here.

Sorry for the delay. I sold the last one about 2 weeks ago but another batch is in the works. I'll keep you posted.

This is really nice but I have an idea for your next replica tool if you want. How about the torque wrench extension bar for breaking the crank bolt loose? Or maybe someone has already figured out an alternative? I may buy one in the future from you.

1/2" Impact Gun

good recipe for a fractured crank cog. no impact tools on the crank bolt, please.

I second this. The nature of the stock cog makes it quite prone to fracture from impact.

Even when loosening? I was always taught it's ok when loosening but not when tightening

the impact forces will still transfer to the keyway as it loosens.

Interesting. This is the first I've heard of this but I'll take everyone's word for it (I can see why though) :)
