Yeah i've cut down how much I bother with that forum too many arguements etc.
And yeah just checking that you had the handbrake off, is the rear setup completely standard or anything uprated?
Can't believe how much hp you guys get from your engines etc and how light you can get the cars down, problem over here is not many people do out and out track/drag cars most are daily drivers so end up weighing soo much.
The handbrake wire follows all the standard routes that it should do I take it? From what I remember there is an adjustment under the handbrake lever for the cable to take up some slack, its been a while since I had to adjust a cable on one of these, i've decided to go on the lookout for a Ur quattro whilst the prices are lower than before.

honestly, not that i noticed... but my old one was tired, and doing this cost less than a new OEM hose, so it was a no-brainer
that being said, I'm also only running a 7a pressure plate w/ a spec 2 clutch disc, so I dont' really have a crazy strong/stiff clutch setup that would cause as much resistance as a full on race clutch.

Haydn: i do not think NHRA matters. my rabbit has a really good size ragtop, and most times i run it open all the way
but good lookin out....
plus, i do not plan to get into actual EVENT type races. i just ry to build everything to that level in case they want to nitpick. but i am gonna look into it. i do not recall ever them saying anything about it.
hell, i have lined up with snowmobiles before. and some bugs with no roof either.

save your wishes.
my plans are to take it a bit easy. i want to get it to go down the track.
it has the smaller ~450 AWHP motor in it, not the bigger badder one. so it will not be up to what it will be eventually.
i do plan on launching it HARD and running it OUT if i get enough passes in. last year i got 6 passes.
but that said, i think D dont have a chance
he does have something fully street driven, 365/yr if he so chooses. mine is PURE RACE. and he has to drive to the track, therefore needs somehow to get it home in the case of breakage. me, trailered only.
but who is who? (i want to be the beast

450AWHP!!! is nothing to be shy about in such a light chassis on slicks all round :slap: its still gonna rip outta the hole like no ones business
:woowoo: Give D a car length our two, i hear hes got some thing coming for ya!

thats a guess. in FWD chassis it just spun slicks all day long @ ~550whp on the dyno. and that was only with 29 psi and 7800 rpm. i took it to 8400-8500 and 36+ PSI on the track. it would just spin the slicks @ 130 across the finish line, 4th gear burnout. all 4 gears burnout.
so to say 450 AWHP is a conservative guess. there is a bigger turbo now, the rabbit only had a GT35R. but there is AWD now not just 2WD. so who knows what it will be exactly. but it should be fun and thats all that counts.
last year at Waterlands it was my last race of the year, due to work, so i gave all the rest of the C-16 i had to Derek. he was hooked and fast.

and tonight, i tossed the motor back in. and the head. and both manifolds.
then i finalized the throttle cable bracket setup. just needs welded.
then i tossed in the turbo hotside, and mounted the exhaust.
devised a slip-type bracket, and welded it on. now the exhaust is supported but can still have slight movement.
also drilled and tapped all the stuff in the IM as well. the IAT port, the ECU Vac/Boost signal port, and the vac/boost manifold feed port.
checked the harness's, fit is good everywhere so far.
then pulled it all apart, and loaded just about everything into the truck to take to work with me tomorrow. Nub will get the block so he can weld the oil pan turbo drain port. Joey will get all else required to put the pink block back together. other stuff is just cool stuff i like to show off and brag on is all.
so i can now feasibly remount the pass fender and do the skirt as well. the exhaust supports itself now. but i want to wrap the exhaust first with header wrap. try and control some of the heat at least.

the exhaust tape will be nice, it helps quite a bit

lazy night.
welded on tab for throttle cable. drained trans fluid. thats it.
got all my manifolds and turbo and WG's ready for this weekend. gonna display the motor at a "function" one could say.
oh yeah, and the second Twin-Disc clutch arrived today. so yes, now i have two high-dollar clutch setups! looks like i truly just commited to the rabbits new drivetrain being the spare quattro setup LOL.
i needed the flywheel to balance motor with as my new motor is now being help up by the EPA for whatever reason. and my original flywheel is with it. also, Johnny (zerb) was kind enough to send me his SFI dampener as mine is again stuck with the motor....
:bashtard: :slap:
oh well.
lazy evening really. pondered alot of things. and this will be running soon. and we will be painting the sunroof panel, the front bumper, and the windshield wings Saturday, too. WOOHOO!!!!! should i paint the hood as well? NAH.
also got my numbers ordered today. for the NHRA, and class. i will use the same number as it is whats on my card. 4983 SC/PRO

thought i might add, that FULL CLUTCH KIT had a ship weight of 20 pounds. that is FW, PP, both discs, both plates, and the TOB and alignment tool.
thats not very much....
Brian (friend on other sites) loves the shit out of it, i sorta talked him into it. he says he can chirp thru 5th gear with ease, it is really a grabby clutch and not at all too harsh for street driving....
