still need to slip the clutch out on launching. if you put too small a pill in it you will get too much slip. its different. i think 1.67 was my best yesterday....

timing belt tensioner loosened up, and it appears to have advanced the crank ~4-5 teeth.

we will see in a few hours if there is damage to valves. lets hope not.

but i have a fully built head with big hydro cams sitting here in wait, so i can get it running QUICK and go finish the licensing.

yeah, and that it went forward with the crank. remember, i took vids of the cyls and clearances.... and there is a lil bit of room in there. we will be doing this again today. and then compression tests after we re-time the TB.... and hope.

looking at the logs, and talking with Kevin, the car was "lazy" up top, not as responsive, and not as much boost either. that was the last pull. so it could have been off a tooth or two while running.

then loaded a different map, drove to staging lane, shut off to wait. my turn comes up, no start. we cranked it for a good deal of time, wouldnt catch or fire. leave fuel pump off and it would sputter like it wanted to catch but never did.

i hope its ok....

i took a quick peek with the 'scope.... i didnt see any contact and valves look like they close. have really good valve reliefs in the piston tops.

goin back shortly to get more in depth, with compression test and leakdown.

keep you'ns updated. i got everything i have in pairs crossed ;)

soooooo. a SOLID 5 teeth retarded the cam gear is compared to TDC on the crank gear.

compression test done. set timing back to spec, completely cold motor here.

145 - 145 - 145 - 145. good news there.

leakdown test.

12% - 10% - 7% - 6% leakdown. again, completely cold.

i find these findings in my favor, luck must have played a large part in this.

at any rate, i am happy not to have killed the thing.

new TB gear coming, Joey talked to Pete and they will custom make one for me to double pin it to the crank. getting a new head gasket just cuz, its cheap and good to have on hand.

YAY!!!!!

the TB tensioner came loose i think from heat. i "think" it may have heated up and relaxed the nylon insert in the nylock nut. no more of that here. steel locknut now.

anyways, loose tensioner allowed belt to let some slip go by. just my theory. but it works for me. all else is tight and good to go.

Oh I see. So it slipped over some teeth because the tensioner allowed it to be loose.
