yesssir.

I just ordered a flange from 034 so I can just hook it up to the stock mani for now. Bitch was like 50 bux lol.

Oh well. Maybe I can get some welding practice on that beast. I'd also like to try and polish the stock wg top when its off. Just for coolness' sake. Maybe for use if my pops ever decides to get a 20vt. :woowoo:

have you decided on a turbo yet or are you still going all over the place lol

haha well I have the general size sorted out now.

Its basically gt4088r or equivalent.

as in possibly T67, etc. too, but still in that general range.

The next big news is that I'm like 90% sure I am getting a set of BBS RS's for the car :o

I'm thinking pearl centers and polished lips. (I have a thread up asking for help with fitment in the wheel and tire section).

mmm I would love to have the V8 front and rear fenders too. That would make it perfection...but I doubt that will happen unless I come upon a miracle hookup.

in the meantime, I picked the wg up

and just ordered a dp flange today from 034.

A local shop (that does good work) is fabbing the dp and wastegate dump setup I mentioned earlier for $150...and that includes the piping!!!!! WTF lol I'm not used to deals like that.

The only negative is that I think my DV took a shit.

When I get on it, it wont hold more than say 6-7 lbs (rather than the normal 9-10 I get) and I can hear a leaking sound. Also when I let off, it doesn't make the blow off noise it normally does. I think its broken and just wont close all the way to keep the boost in. I'll probably find out for sure next week when I go home. I have a spare 710N valve to try out.

So I have my PS3 and a few other things up for sale to help fund the ever elusive RS's for the car...and someone offered to trade a drop in HID kit that his company sells + cash.

I wasn't really planning on doing anything like this, but considering the quality of the stock lighting on these cars, its really hard to pass it up as a safety upgrade. I mean, I can barely see at night when driving this car :o :-D

What say you?

if you go HID try the dual beam on the stock DOT headlights, otherwise you'll just blind everyone else on the street

by loxxrider
here is what he said

"you would want the bixenon 9004 kit for your headlights you'll have hid for both high and low beam and you can also run in your fog lights!! which takes an h3 bulb"

So I guess that would be the dual beam.

and then "mounts like an oem bulb and it plugs in yout oem wiring plug no cutting no splicing just drop in and see slot better"

so its completely plug and play apparently. And that would be in the stock housings.

Definitely don't want to blind everyone else...I hate when people's lights do that :wtf:

Ill reply later on tonight if anyone comments...heading off to watch the UF LSU game.

is there a pic somewhere of the light bulb? if there's no cover on it to make the beam only go high or low, then it's likely not a good idea...

continue discussing :-D

I'm leaving for real now...

I hate forums, they suck up my time so much!!!!

I am supposed to be picking up my GF right now, but I'd rather talk Audis :woowoo:

Well, the HID deal didn't work out, but I'll probably still be looking into a set of lights because mine just started acting strangely recently. When I turn the car on, more often than not, the passenger headlight will be off...but then I tap on it, and it turns right on lol

The next thing in line is some interior rejuvenation. Headliner is coming out and getting covered in gray suede (my entire interior is gray with black accents...and wood grain).

I'm having a bit of trouble, but I'll probably figure it all out somehow. I am thinking I may do some kind of print or just another color on the sunroof panel and the cover for the sunroof motor and dome light thing. Ideas?

loxxrider wrote:lol Chinese huh? Thats pretty interesting.

It seems like this IC wouldn't have much problem with heat-soak given its size?

Its like 2.5x the size of my old jettas (when it was stock) intercooler. It did have some heatsoak problems, but it wasn't anything too major.

I dont want to do an ic until I can get one that will work down the road...because I'll be wasting money when I have to upgrade again for serious time. Thats awesome for all the piping, etc. tho...you wouldn't happen to have a link?

this mindset will lead you to a blown motor real fast. Your jettas turbo was also a hell of alot smaller than the k24 and or whatever turbo your running. The more you ask of that turbo the hotter the intake charge. Your intake track isnt going to change a whole lot even with a big turbo if you stick with the stock/rs2 style cast manifolds so the cooler the charge = good. Plus its not a waste of money since your intake tract will be similar so no major fab changes required

I'm not sure if I got my real intentions across properly in that post.

That was a while ago, but what I had in mind (I think) is that I don't want to do an IC (at least the one that was being discussed) while I'm still on stock turbo, because in my opinion, the stock intercooler is fine for chipped K24 levels, etc...and #2, the said intercooler will not be capable of handling what I will be throwing at the car.

In other news, my interior redecoration project has seriously commenced.

I had the freakin hardest time getting that back seat rest out last night...WTF. Who knew you have to take out the headrests to get the back seat out...and to get the headrests out, you need to push down, then wiggle them, while someone in the trunk pushes on black tabs and then you pull up and wiggle hoping that the tabs will pop out of place :wtf:

anyway, here is the progress so far. I'm sure some of you will disapprove of the accents I will be using in a few very small places (shift boot possibly, e-brake boot, and sunroof motor cover)...but all of those are easily swapped out if it looks really horrible :) oh, and I made the accents out of my boxers :o :D

if you think you see wrinkles, its just where the suede isn't brushed the same way ;)

im a huge fan of the suede and the plaid accents I think look awesome. I'm hoping to redo my headliner and pillars in grey suede along with the inserts of my seats.

Looks good so far!

Thanks man, I appreciate the reassurance :)

I'm really having fun doing this as I've NEVER done anything like this before, and its actually coming out quite nice.

yea - i've seen a few dubs with the suede/plaid and it looked good but you're definitely the first I know of to attack an old audi so I'm anxious to see how it comes out.

Werd.

I thought it would be cool to keep it quasi-OEM (color wise), but make it even more plush/nice, and get rid of some of that vinyl :jerk:

where did you get the suede from?

Jo-Ann fabrics.

My friend found it for me on the sale rack.

It is normally $21 a yard.

I managed to weasel them into giving it to me for $3.50 a yard :-D

I bought the whole roll lol.

I have figured out how to get almost everything out...but does anyone know how the hell to get the sun visors out?

Posted: Sun Oct 26, 2008 4:34 pm
by yodasfro
You need to pry the cover off where the pivot arm is under it you will find two phillips screws.

by loxxrider
Thats what I thought. I guess I just need a better prying tool. I'd prefer not to break more stuff :-D Thanks for the response by the way.

The good thing is that so far I've only cracked one pillar. I'll be fixing it with some epoxy most-likely.

I'm taking my time to do this as best as is possible.

I saved a thread on taking out the T44 headliner, so I'll be checking that out as soon as I get those sun visors out, as those are the last things still in the way besides the sunroof. I know there is something you have to do with that. I think that thread mentioned it.
