yes, but in 4lug

not 5... AFAIK
Uh no. I've owned, driven and maintained a 5000S quattro for ten+ years. Trust me, it uses 5ktq hubs and wheel bearings. Otherwise I wouldn't have said "Same hubs and such as the CS (5ktq)".
Here's a tidbit from ETKA:
447 407 615A - Wheel hub - 5-Loch
Used in: 1989-1991 200, 1987-1988 5000q, 1980-1988 5kt, 1986-1988 5ktq, 1982-1987 quattro.

hmm, i've only ever seen 4lug non-turbo 5kq's and 100's, so i figured that at least up until the C4's, they made every non turbo car 4 lug. i guess i know different now

(unless your car was magically converted to 5lug by someone else

derracuda wrote:if you have an earlier 84' tranny there, you could just go measure the front axles yourself and let me know so we can put this to bed

I am about 15 miles away from the transmission right now, but I will measure tomorrow. The rear flanges on my two 84s are the same as rear on a T44 (with the larger bolts, if I recall.) I know that much because I built a fixture that allowed me to position a T44 rear diff and build mounts to attach it to a 4KQ rear subframe. I had assumed that ALL 016 4KQ transmissions had the same 100mm flanges (with 8*1.35 bolts) like on the I4 FWD stuff.
We shall see.

Well, then you haven't seen a real 5kq then. Because they are ALL 5x112. They use bits from the 5ktq (like suspension/brakes), a modified 017 rear end (4.11:1 R&P), gearbox is specific to the 5kq (gearing). Front axles are from the FWD 5k, rears are from the 5ktq.
The 100 on the other hand uses the 01A with 5k axles and front hubs (4x108). Rear axles are actually a 4A0 part...

Yeah, you dont see 5kq's much. Now, a 5000 turbo fwd 5spd is more rare, id say. Only seen one of those in person, and that was the Audi tech sons' car on the lift at the dealership. VERY cool ride

aha, maybe that's it. i probably saw some 100q's with the 4 bolt pattern. got it now captain

Derek,
I checked my '84 Quattro transmission today. It also has small bolt (8*1.25) 100mm front drive flanges. The rear diff as you mentioned has big bolt flanges. I believe the bolts are 10*1.5. I guess this means that when I do Martin's 5-bolt swap I will be buying late 4KQ rear shafts and turning in my early ones for cores. That's fine because I was going to buy new shafts anyway.

if you get the drive cups from a turbo 016, (5ktq) you can use those early large inner CV rear axles in front too (if you want them at all four corners). if you don't want your early ones, i might be interested in 1 of them for my alpine car, maybe both if the core price isn't too much and you just want to cover that.

5000 quattro non turbo used to have 5 bolt suspension.
And used the same tranny as 4kq however with the large inner CVs.

yay! one of my best friends works at a dealership and decent set of used kumho's came in... in 205/55/15. so i picked the best BBS rims i had and sent them off with him sunday, and got them back today

they fit really well and look great!
i polished the rims lips up a bit and then wiped the tires down with some dressing as they were a bit dry and old looking. they'll work fine until they wear completely out and i have more $$ for new tires

i've also place my order for all the lifters, timing belt, WP, seals, gaskets, spark plug wires, etc to freshen the 3B up here before i jump into the swap. i don't know if i'll be able to start it the next time i come to CA as i should be installing my old alpine cars 20vt engine into a customers 4kq. if something comes up and his car gets put off, then this one will immediately get put in it's place and get started 8)

this will kill many birds with one stone.
#5. allow me to retain the stock 4kq steering arms.
FYI, you can use 4kq steering arms with 5kt struts, just need to get $15 GTI MKII tie rod ends..

In the picture of the 3b intake manifold hanging down there are red/clear plugs in the injector bungs. What are those things?
