Major update, she's running. The gas pump really helps to prime the system. Still having issues with the glow plug system not receiving signal from the ECU, but at least she runs!
Congratulations! Diesel... running. :jerk: Can we focus our attention on the sport now?
Seriously though, good work.

Thanks guys, still plenty to do, but at least now I know it's worth the effort. Vacuum pump still needs a switch to make it stop when full vacuum is attained. Cooling system needs to be finished. Picking up the RS2 bumper this weekend from painting, so that will be fun as well. Need to plumb in AIT The dash still needs to be sorted and rewired to work with 90q cluster.
I am sure I am forgetting something.
Onwards and upwards!

very very cool Martin! A diesel quattro is so great. Veggie oil is pretty simple to do on a mechanically injected diesel, not sure where you could hide tank #2 though. I ran about 40% straight (filtered and dewatered) veggie oil in my truck with no modification as long as the temp stays above 55 degrees or so. Thats another way to cut down on fuel costs.

great work Martin...I like the battery spot...mine ended up behind the driver seat in a nice marine battery box...I also got some sweet 250A welder cables to use for the main power lines - great stuff...
that diesel's gotta haul some pretty good a$$ - I imagine the torque will be pretty decent...

Jesus, that was fast. Congrats!
The rad support piece, I see it better now....what you have is probably 4K piece or something else. B3 one is slightly longer and on the front it curves down just a bit so it's bolted to the upper support, from the top. See here...it's the best pic I could find, and the hole it uses is the round one on the front, not actually bolted in here...

I see now, it's completely different from the 4kq one. I thought the front cross member was missing a tab for it.
Anyone has one of these rad supports kicking around?
Thanks!

Very cool! I'm curious to know whether this thing is going to get decent fuel consumption. Also, if you still have a spare gas pedal I'll buy it off of you. Just let me know what you want for it shipped to J8V 0E1.

The Euro 100 TDI (typ 44) was getting 5-6L/100km depending on hwy/city, the 90 is a little heaier so I am hoping for at least 6 hwy. or better if I drive like grandpa. Which would be hell of a lot better than 10L/100km
You have a PM.

Even 10L/100km doesn't seem bad for a 90. I've never gotten better than 18 from what the board computer tells me, and my wallet has confirmed it.

10L/100km...that's roughly 2.5 gallons for 60ish miles. That comes to 23.7 mpg. That's not shabby at all for a 90Q. So you're talking about cutting fuel consumption by 40%? WOW!

Don't know about you but 10L/100km to me is bad, I was getting 11L in my chipped 3B and now getting 10.5 in my VEMS controlled '84 with 20vt. The '83 80 quattro is getting 9L day in day out. Our family car the 300TD (W124) is getting 7L average, and that a big heavy car, so I aim to beat that.
I have a simple spreadsheet where I keep track of all of our cars every fill up and have totals and averages for each and every vehicle I've owned last 10 years. A bit anal but it also helps me to track bunch of things like repairs and costs.
Cheers

To quote Borat: High five!
Really nice that you made something with that enigne. I almost cried when you dropped the 4k-projekt. I have an -96 A6 tdis quattro with 330 000km with some sort of evil tuning chip, otherwise original. Usually I'm getting 7l/100km and it really doesnt matter how I beat it or trying ecodriving. With full tank (80L) and all the nice things i like transport all the time, car weight is around 2000kg. During the winter (N63°) I'm hard to beat at red lights and 4wd snow drifting is silly funny.
The only thing "soft" in theese engines is the main studs holding the crankshaft. I know, I have changed engine once and I'm not too keen doing it again. Would be nice to get a better em, a gtb2260vk, some nice nozzles and good software.

Question for you Martin. To get our mileage, we just divide miles by gallons used, and its pretty easy. In using the metric system, I'm assuming its a bit more complicated...or do you have a shortcut that gets you there?
