Sounds like a good idea. How shitty would that be if that has been your knock issue this whole time!

Oh btw... I think I found my next project....but I'm gonna keep it a secret for now. It's going to be just as cool as this but WAYYYYYYY more practical for DD

As far as the basket goes, all that is left is to finish the rail mounts, mount the lights, weld in some ground studs for the lights, powdercoat the basket, and wire in the lights / relays

I'm thinking when all is said and done, I'll be about $80-90 and about 20-25 hours into it

Great....one more thing to fix. The exhaust studs I used are a pile of shit. One of them backed out completely on #5. Went to retighten it and it snapped with a minimal amount of torque. fiddle sticks.

This spring / summer, I'm dropping the motor/trans, redoing the exhaust studs, new Jergen rack and pinion, going to replace my bent passenger tie rod with a straight one, and other small various fixes that need to be done.

It will help to have the surface of the manifold machined when yo do drop it in the spring. I had to retighten the studs at least every 4-6 months on mine. It was irritating to say the least. One of the many design flaws in the 20vt. That number 5 sure is the black sheep on that manifold but I dont feel its a deal killer though. The heat cycle on that thing plus the way that #5 just hangs out there just murders those studs. Hell, If I were to do it all again, I would drill out all the holes and tap them a size bigger. that may help in the long run. but thats just me. cant do that realisticly without the head off again.

Hmmm, I thought you put the 034 exhaust studs in that head. I hope you didnt manage to break one of those! Im with scubadave on the machining of the manifold. I think I mentioned that to you quite a while ago :P

Oh yeah, the basket looks damn good sitting up there!

No but I'm thinking I'll order a set from 034. I'm guessing they are engineered for these applications. I started thinking and I shouldn't get pissed off. I threw this damn thing together in about 10 months, Engine, Suspension, Brakes, EVERYTHING. As a future engineer, I'm going to look at all these problems as R&D lol. Just as long as the car gets through Winter I'll be happy and frankly I'm surprised I haven't come across any MAJOR problems

Is there a way to disable the rev limiter on a MAC-11 ecm? I found something cool I want to try involving Porsche ignition parts

Hard wire fuel pump and ignitkon coil to 12v. As far as i know boost cut turns off fuel pump as well as coil. Boost cut is like a rev limiter... so i imagine the 7300 limiter functions the same? I think its 7300.

What do you have in mind???

SWWWEEETTT, things are looking good man! I wanna see what you have planned with the Porsche stuff.

Porche igniton rotors have a built in rev limiter. You can get differnt ones. Some are 4500, some are 7300. I want one with 7300. The size is the same but different shape because of the cutoff spring.

Distributor and all??? Possible link to more info??

No I would retain the MC distributor, bypass the rev limiter, and put the porche rotor in. The rotor itself IS the limiter. The one I want to use limits it to 7300. Main reason I want to do this is for the hot camshaft I have. It pulls hard to the rev limter and I know it has a few more in it

Oh, btw. I am led to believe I have solved my knock sensor issue. I moved it from the block to a boss on the head (cylinder #5). So far the light has not come back and I have not had any timing issues.

Thats good news. Tightening up the alternator didnt help after all then huh?
