I ordered some downpipe amenities today. New 3" v band couplers with integrated O2 bunghole and clamp since the stock hx35 v band is retarded (not my words). Wish I had an LSU 4.9 for my bung hole tho :(
As I said I'll be using the lower half of the old DP to create this new money-suck project. I still look forward to it

Ok I've ordered all the -4 AN feed line pieces and most everything else. I'm hesitant on the drain line order now tho.
I'm eying the -12 AN option but I think I'd have to use the summit 1/2" npt to -12 AN 45° fitting at each flange. I don't think I'll fit a straight fitting anywhere for that as you said Chris. Of course I forgot about the -3 AN restrictor idea when I got the feed line stuff lol. Now I'm trying to make good on it. Can I pull off the 45° angles at both ends of the drain line if it's a -12 AN line?

I just used a bunch of vibrant fittings to build the oil lines for my TDI holset car and found them to be good quality. The price was only marginally more than summit fittings.

I literally messaged Summit Racing on eBay and told them I heard terrible things about their fittings and wanted to know if they would penalize me for cancelling the order
No answer yet but I did buy the Vibrant fittings and they do look beefier at a glance

one thing about summit is their customer service is very very good. I ordered a shitload of vibrant fittings, opened all the boxes, test fitted a bunch, picked the ones I liked best and sent the rest back. All orders come with a return sheet and pre-paid label IN THE BOX. You just check next to the part numbers you want to send back, put them back in the box, and drop it at the post office. No questions asked. Awesome.

Wow that's not something other places can say they do. At least they hassle over this (hopefully). I paid $29.** shipped for each one frim Vibrant. I do think I got boned on shipping for buying 2 of course. Dark forces at work when there's free shipping

I ran a number of summit fittings and lines and never had an issue, the hose ends actually assembled better than the Earls I have on my B6 now. I think it's a step above ebay fittings. Having said that I did go for Earls this time around...
For the oil feed, look at pre assembled brake line, I have 2 sections with a male/male coupler, I think you can get them in -3 in addition to -4 and they're cheaper than buying fittings and hose, although length is a bit less custom.

Thanks Shawn, glad to hear someone had success using them. I'll just return to sender when they arrive after the wallet bomb that the vibrant ones have become. I sent them an ebay message asking where the ball went that they dropped lol. They had my message for about 6 hrs asking about canceling. The feed was the only no-brainer in this whole endeavor actually. Found the line complete on ebay. On its way as of today. Went with the 24" line after measuring some things on the spare motor.
Got a good start tonight kinda

Summit first said I have to pay return shipping and then I asked about the return label I usually get and the guy seemed to agree about the label or something. It became obscure. The only reason I think they'll honor the free return shipment is because I said they have several hours to get my ebay message and yet they still shipped. Then I said I wasn't aware how little they check their inbox

I just learned that my passenger catalytic converter has been beaten to death by the launch control finally :-) absolutely no trace of it. I've probably been spitting platinum pieces out at people thatve been tailgate me this whole time. That makes LC that much more badass!

As I'm waiting on parts I'm starting to break free the bolts for the turbo drain line flanges ar the block. Got the coolant one fine but the oil one us killing me. I had to drill a small hole in the flange leading to the bolt thread to spray PB into and that's where I've stopped. Nothing has rounded out yet but I'm feeling confident about the he head holding. I'd rather have a bolt on there. I have vise grips on it right now. It better come out one way or another!
