Yep, not to much left to do!

Also, while I was reading the spec sheet for my pistons, they say the valve reliefs are cut deaper than normal on purpose for cars running larger valves, higher rpms and higher lift cams. Cool.

Looking good Jim. Is the #2 piston all the way to the top of the cylinder? Is the piston cut flush with the deck or does the edge of the piston rise out of the bore to head gasket plus quench heighth? Was your 13cc dish taking into consideration the valve reliefs? No matter, it looks close. Keep it going.

Looks good. Is that a 034efi cylinder head?

Nope, I just did a basic porting job on it by smoothing out the transitions. I didn't enlarge the ports at all since I don't have a flow bench to work with.

It seemed half the intake ports transitioned smooth into the bowl, the other half had some pretty good ridges in areas. I just smothed those out and removed any casting turds.

In the exhaust side it's easy to see the ridges that can be removed, smoothed out and polished.

My shop has a flow bench that can do 20v 5 cyl heads, but at this point I don't feel like paying $60 to see how it does since the bottom end work was a couple $$$ more than expected. Maybe next time.

The piston does stick up a little, slightly less than stock. Probably again because they expect these to be ran at higher rpms than stock. If I had a head that was bone stock I may be a little concerned about the CR of this motor. I know for a fact the head has been surfaced at least twice, so it's a little down on cc's so I'm happy with it. Hell, my goal is to boost the living crap out of it. :-D

For more comparison, here's a pic of Marc's NG block. Thanks Marc

Coming from you I think a pot full of boost is on it's way. How did you machine your water mani in. Take it to your machinist or wade in yourself. Mine is still sitting on the bench marked but no holes! :?

My machinist did it. It turned out really well, we'll see how perfect it is once I get coolant in it.

Where is the 60-2 wheel?

I'll get a pic of it tonight.

Hey Jim, this may seem a bit noobish, but can you tell me a bit more about that electric ps pump? First time i've seen one on this site and i'm curious to know if it performs the same as the stock one?

I'd love to get rid of more rotating mass off the crank if i could, i losing the ps pump would be a good way to do it.

TIA

Btw, its looks awesome. Just the short block alone looks

You need to reread Javad's project thread. He had used an electric pump as well. He comments on it's performance too.

Thanks guys, yea, I need to clean and re-spreay the engine bay one of these days. Seriously though, the 20v is just a pleasure to work on . Everything is just better on these heads.

Where did you get that banjo fitting for the water manifold? That would be a nice on my 20v.

Its all looking very good Jim. I hope to see good numbers out of it :)

Javad of course!

I finished all the turbo lines tonight. They all kick ass except for the WG signal. I have another one of those banjio fittings I'll probably use there, but I need to figure out where I'm headed with boost control first.
