Divide Litres by Kilometers and multiply by 100

Fuel used /(Km driven/100). That's all.

If I used 50L and drove 1000km that would make it 50/(1000/100) i.e. 50/10 which is 5L/100km.

Cheers

Did you get your bumper? Cant wait to see it on a car.

Yep, picked it up this morning.
It was worth the 2 hour drive each way!

Andrew Warner was nice enough to the work on the Rieger RS2 bumper for me. :thanks:

He installed some mesh holders which the bumper does not come with.

Image

He also fixed up one corner that had a chunk missing

Image

Shot some pearl white to match the car

Image

And I liked Technoquattro's bumper so much I also asked Andrew to the same to mine.

I am very impressed with Andrew's work. Bumper looks stunning. Makes the rest of the car look like a POS.

Next I have to make up some brackets to mount this beast on the car, and then install some 993 fogs and turn signals.

Cheers

Nice! That's gonna be one aggressive looking diesel.

The bumper doesn't come with any mounting brackets? That sucks. The sides are easy to bolt onto the fenders, but on the front you gotta be creative.

Eric

Metric works the same. Kilometers divided by liters. However, in Europe many times fuel consumption is expressed as liters per 100km.

To give an example, my S6 uses 16 to 18 liters per 100kms. That is what the display on the BC says.
I also record each fuel stop. Then, I just divide the kms with the ltrs. Usually 330km and 65 liters.

Expensive car to run. The diesel getting 5 or 6ltrs/100kms is damn good.

Not much else happened, gathering stuff and waiting for few things from few places.

Started working on brackets for the bumper.

Here is what it will look like with used 993 fog and new turn signal.

Mockup on the car

And with hood a bit closed.

Need to find some RS2 lights to match the look.

Got the brackets mocked up and will be doing some real bending tonight at Craigs.. ;)

Cheers

Nice, Martin. This is one of the coolest TDI's out there.

I like the technoquatt approach to the two-tone scheme. It really helps with the lines of the car while retaining the black lowers on the back half. There isn't much else you can do with the way the RS2 bumper is designed.

Thanks guys!

Yep, I liked his bumper and decided it would best match the rest of the trim.

More tomorrow.

Yes, indeed.

GOt one of the packages I was waiting for... but more dissapointment.
I was hoping to run the B3 coolant and P/S reservoirs to make them fit better around the rad... not so.
The B3 coolant jug will not fit bcause of the ABS crap in the way.
So... back to stock, B4 coolant and B4 P/S jug are in, not my favorite, but at least it all fits.
GOt the heater core lines in as well... but discovered another issue.
The stock typ 89 rad shroud will not fit the body, the B3 has a nice little cutout that the B4 does not, so the rad shroud hits.
I wonder if the RS2 one will clear, will have to talk to technoquattro to see what he did (or read his writeup a bit better).

Frustrated I decided to see how my brackets turned out. I bent them at Craig's shop last night, sort of sucks because I was working from a piece of tin I bent up and had no way of testing the actual pieces... but they turned out great.

Image

And got the body to bumper bracket mounted on the drives side, then it started to rain and I had to stop, but it looks great.

Image

Hope to finish the other side this evening.

Kidding aside, great work Martin...

Got the other side mounted and bracket finished. Now, If I have them powdercoated I might not see them for 2 weeks, if I just throw some paint on them I can get them mounted and on the car this afternoon... decisions decisions.

Today plan is to get the cluster rewired and keep going on the engine compartment.

- vacuum pump mounting, routing and swith/relay wired
- figure out the fan housing sitiation
- Still need a P/S belt, the stock one is too short.

Pushing on.

Very productive day today.

Filled up gearbox with oil, bled the clutch, flushed the brakes with new fluid.
Finished welding the exhuast (mid pipe).
Installed AIT in the intercooler outlet.
Got the cooling system ready for fill up (don't have any coolant here though).
Finished mounting the bumper after painting the brackets.

Image

I am really happy with the gaps.

Image

Image

Image

And got the car back on the gound.

Image

Tomorrow is gauge cluster, and troubleshooting of the glow plug relay circuit.
Hope to be test driving on Sunday!

Anyone know if the clear corners from a B3 will fit the B4? I know the headlights are different due to the hood grill.

Cheers
