People will just have to just remember it's a work in progress.

Yea......so aren't they all? I'd need a full page to list all the things wrong with my Urq and another page or two for the wish list of things I'd like to do. I think I would be happy if I could just get the list to start shrinking instead of things breaking faster than I can fix the problems. With my cars it seems the list grows proportional to miles driven......if I drive it, something needs attention. :bangshead: Hang in there Ben. The car looks great. Hopefully we see it in person soon.

Thanks John :) And yes, if all goes according to plan, Oceanic will be there! Hank came through with parts, I just need to come through with getting crap done to it!

Update just so everyone knows that I am still alive and kicking. :P BBQ is exactly one month away for me today and I am freaking out just a little tiny bit. So here is what I have left to be "road worthy":

Buy Clutch/Slave and install/convert to 01E
Locate and install the proper reverse lockout for 01E
Finish installing the 5857/Header/DP setup
Modify Exhaust to fit the new DP setup
Tune
Take care of cosmetic issues
Work out bugs

Tonight I did stay late at work and make a little progress... I finished installing my Home Depot/ghetto rigged AWIC set up to get me by for this trip.

Dang, that's a lot to do! Better get crackin :) Seems like good progress getting the AWIC in though. I think getting the trans stuff soon is going to be key to you getting there!

I have everything I need except for shift linkage (should be here tomorrow), reverse lockout box, Clutch setup and clutch slave. The clutch is at least two weeks out I'm thinking.

LOL you don't want a pic of my rolled fenders Brah... LOL visually (on the inside of the fender) it looks like piss. I'm not sweating how it looks right now because A: it doesn't rub as much and B: I'm going to graft on MK1 rabbit fender flares.

In all seriousness though, if you need pics I can snag some for you. :)

Days later... I will do it tomorrow. LOL

SO onto my update/question. Today I got the car running again (without the trans in it) in order to work out drivability bugs, leaks, etc... so first things first, the turbo is puking oil out like a madman. I left the stock oil restrictor on the CRA, -4an feed line and it has 5/8 drain line, all that good stuff... still pukes oil. SO, do I need to run a smaller feed line, like a -3, or do I need for find a small oil restrictor? I have to get his solved before I can drive the dang thing. It's puking oil right out of the V-band clamp on the downpipe and down to the header... :( ... it made a mess.

Put an oil pressure gauge inline if you want to know the real story... Could be too much pressure, or could be oil getting past the seals, thats about it! Unless it is getting into the turbo by some other means (engine).

I'm betting it's too much pressure, i'm going to try and find a restrictor to see if that resolves the situation. It's not bad at idle, but once I rev it up, it's puke city.

That sounds about right then.

So while I was dinking with the car yesterday I took a couple of quick videos of it running and such...

This one is open downpipe LC demonstration. ( Doing this has also convinced me I need to add an exhaust dump). :P

This one just shows the where the turbo is puking oil...

So, all I have left to do is solve the turbo oiling issue, for which I am going to install a 1/8npt to -4AN restrictor with changeable brass jets, figure out my trigger error problem (I'm getting way too many primary triggers) and get the trans installed. Overall, I'm feeling pretty good about things, I'm just in a debate as to whether or not I should update to the latest firmware for VEMS.

Ben, is your return angled down all the way to the oil pan? I burned a bunch of oil with my Urq before realizing that I had a bit of a natural trap with my return line that was backing up oil into the CRA and blowing it by the seals. Rerouting solved my issue.

Your turbo is broken. You should have gone with a manly man turbo like a T6 Compound Combine turbo off a 9230.

I think the restrictor will solve your problems. They are required with the Precision turbos.

Thank you John, I double checked the drain line and it is pretty much a straight shot into the crankcase. So no dice there, hopefully like Darin says the restrictor solves the problem. I shall find out tomorrow. :)

SO! Progress has been made!

For starters, last night I tossed in the 7A cams I picked up from IMS.

Image

Not only that, but I've been toying around with the idea of moving the turn signals to the bottom of the bumper and turning the old turn signal outlets into ducts for the intake and radiator... This is what I came up with:

Image

Image

So, after that I ran out of parts/stuff to do, so I did this...

Image

which then turned into this:

So anyways, that's it for now. All I have left to do is get the trans in and tune this beast up! :D
