I may add another degree of timing up top. Chris, have you ever estimated the hp you were making on that map with the h1c?

I've changed back to the spare MAC valve I have. I want to try the clamping effect it can provide for spool up. Problem is I lost my old cfg I made up for that valve

I haven't checked fitment yet. Should I be concerned that the OD of the smooth portion of the discharge pipe is only 2.5" OD vs the 3.5" OD of my current housing?

Am I crazy or did they sell me a 56 mm housing instead of a feckin 54 like he said he would? That's a big gap! :bangshead:

It only fits with the huge oring on the housing to prevent clearance issues with the compressor wheel

Whoa wtf?!
1.971 inches =
50.063 mm
That's my inducer blades measurement. Tiny?

WTH is this mutant turbo?

I don't get it. I never read anything about an HX35 being this small  Now I'm wondering if I should keep the compressor housing so that I can upgrade the compressor wheel to fit it. I have no idea if that's possible tho as there's no info easily found about modifying this small hx.

Anyone have any knowledge to bestow?

Kudos to goldfarb. Sending me the correct housing for shipping alone. "I thought it was the smaller wheel (54), not the SMALLEST one." It's official, everyone. My turbo has micro-penis. FECK!

I feel like I just wasted alot of time and money rebuilding a turbo that is the most undesirable one available! If I put in a 54 mm the DP would probably connect too far forward or backward.. looks like I'm sitting tight on this one.
The incoming housing has the groove/webbing with the same dims as this one they're letting me keep. Can't say I'm excited but at least this turbo won't run out of breath and is a full 1/4" larger inducer than the hybrid. Feel like G&A duped me tho

Gotta say I'm really liking the function of a properly tuned MAC valve under the hood

You were running a volvo hybrid before right? Was it a k26 porsche one or a machine k26/k24? Is it just sitting on a shelf somewhere?

Sorry to hear about the sizing, but glad to hear it still makes tons of power!

Ya it feels more powerful still. I wonder how high I can turn that wick up on it now tho? Maybe 27 psi with the same timing at 25? :D :D

Sorry man I think I know where you're going with this lol. If I ever sell the turbo (which I'm not planning to) it goes to audischwagen who has first dibs. It's a porsche k26 chra and turbine housing with a turbonetics to4b (iirc) compressor wheel and housing. 1.75" inducer. It sounded like a dental drill on boost and I've never heard anything sound like it. Was beautiful to hear.
I'd like to put it on the 5k some day if the compressor housing will clear the block

Well that is rather unfortunate. You have to be really specific with them when you buy turbos. You have to tell them exactly what you want.

What I find strange is I'm pretty sure that 50mm hx35 has a 7 blade wheel instead of 8 as I have

Now I have a quality refinished 54 cm housing FS ;)

Assuming we were talking about 2 totally different turbos initially, Chris you think 27 or 28 PSI would somewhat close the gap between the 54 and 50 cm holsets?

Haha alright! No it was just the nature of its sound. No play and spun freely. It wasn't as mechanical as a drill :)

I'm still not sure if I'm going to that

You really should, lots of good times to be had.

Also, the turbo was a Porsche K26/6 turbine, Audi K26 center, and a turbonetics t04b compressor. I kind of wish I would have run it before I sold it so I could have experienced the sound of it for myself. :P

I know man! Dont worry I think I have vids on my youtube channel of the spool. Although my boost control was slamming the car into fuel cut in them so you hear more of the insanely loud 710 "bov" than spool I think. It's probably more noticeable in the launch vids tho.

https://youtu.be/djHbm8gSsJg

In a major stroke of bad luck.. they can't find a housing with the groove so it's a "have not" now. They're refunding me for the housing.

Instead now I'm having him check for the correct go##am 54 mm turbo core I originally wanred. Looks like I'll have to buy the fu##er and do this all again. This is so disappointing.

I'm almost considering the dremel method

No, I don't think the difference in boost will close the gap. 56mm would be even better ;)

A little dramatic but those guys are ruining my year here.

I'm upping the boost for now then. 28 seems nice and rounded out. Meth will only help

Lol I just slipped and fell on my back on icy concrete steps hard. BUT... G&A can have a 54mm HX35w for me by Wednesday for a good price. Maybe I should take it. Would need to use my hotside for it they said

Ha ya something happened there
Turbo is pretty loud through the passenger window so it surprises me it does show through on there. It flutters usually when I lift after full boost.

That 54mm HX35w is on the table for $150 (for me to buy I mean :D ) but I haven't confirmed I want it yet. An extra 4 mm :we:

Yay or nay nay?
