As opposed to not having a passenger side motor mount because there's no room for it. A fair trade to make, methinks! :P

My firewall mounted remote filter mount in the miata is the best mod I ever made, I can now change the oil with the car on the ground (which is good as I change it every 2 weeks in track season....

:bump:

Another few baby steps forward on teh coupe. I finished welding the mount for the passenger side onto the body. Initially I was thinking that I would use the stock ABZ mounts and then a short adapter bracket between that and the body mounts but I'm debating this at the moment. There isn't a lot of room on the passenger side and I think it might be better to fab the engine brackets from scratch.. :-(

here's a quick (but not finished!) adapter bracket I made for the drivers side. Its too high in the pic but the engine is going to come down a bit.

maybe if I hadn't been a dolt and hacked off the stock engine mounts I coulda done the R&D for the ABZ for you. It'll come out fine the way I'm doing it, but I dont think I had to remove the stock mounting locations.

So I started thinking today (yes, in my thinking place derek, no, not the crapper :-P)...

I think I eventually want to turbocharge the v8, and I've decided that the ABZ 4.2 is the wrong motor for this for a couple of reasons, but mostly cost is the #1 factor. Blowing up an ABZ motor would kind of suck whereas destroying a 3.6 wouldn't really hurt my feelings 8-)

So here's what I'd like to offer as a feeler. I got a pretty good deal on this motor and I'd like to make a trade for anyone interested. I'll trade my ABZ motor for a good PT motor + $1000, and I'll consider other trades or $1500 straight up.

Anybody interested?

yah, but $500 each way is a bit steep for the selling price. If only one hunk of metal needed to traverse the coasts that would be one thing..

Sigh, didn't finish the crate on Friday, I was in a hurry to get ready to head up to VT for the weekend. I have all the materials and the frame is built but no panels put up yet (they're all cut to size tho), nor is the motor fully secured to the pallet yet. I'm going to take a half a day on Tuesday to finish getting it ready. I'll ship it out as soon as I can!

Hell, at that point mise well make a new one using VW16v mani's., plus, aside from the weight, I'm not convinced how bad the stock one is for flow.

True the stock one is a plastic/composite right? Well hey marc if you wanna try making one from vw 16v manifolds I got one kicking around. :-D
