Wonder how
these would hold up, I like the design with the second handle.

Seeing the current state of the blue pill has me thinking about 07K for my UrQ...its gonna happen. Before it does, I need some flex fuel in the UrS. I know that the fuel system needs some attention before this is possible, the stock likes and single 044 pump just aren't up to the task. Ed has proven the FMST dual 044 concept works, but 3 pumps is a lot. I'm thinking of a setup using the current 044 as a lift pump for a surge tank to supply either a magna fuel or Weldon pump pushing through big lines. Anybody have suggestions? I'm thinking -8 or -10 feed with -6 return, possibly made of stainless. I dunno which pump to go with though and am open to suggestions.

Hypothetically speaking... what's that upper limit potential of that Hank Billet GT35/60-1 contraption?
There are these other alternatives that haven't really been spoken about in our circles that might work if coupled with Hanks magic machining of the outlets... he's gotten north of 470+whp out of a plain 044 on e85, so maybe 500+whp could be attainable with one of these....

Marc told me when I was there that the turbo would flow 600whp no problem based on what he saw.

Marc made a comment while the car was on his dyno that the turbo surges. I didn't hear it then, but I think I do now. It happens most between 4-5krpm, part throttle, around 18psi. If I floor it it stops. I can drive around it most of the time, but not always. Suggestions? Cams?I'm running 7A cams now, so I guess the next step is Cat Cams. Anybody have suggestions for part #s?

This morning my son, Eli Robert, decided to join us 3 weeks early. So far so good, he weighs 6lbs3oz and is 19.5" long. All body functions appear to be working. My wife made it through in good shape too.
I woke up at about 3am to my wife having contractions about a minute apart. Oh fuck, we live 35 miles from the hospital! Got a bag together, got my daughter out of bed, loaded everyone in the car and off we go. 130mph up a 2 lane road (pretty much straight as an arrow, but filled with deer). About 15 miles from the hospital her water broke. 10 miles out and she tells me he's crowning. When we got 5 miles out we hit the first town and red light. I stopped to make sure no cars were coming then ran the light. I was promptly pulled over. Luckily, my wife was having a very verbal contraction when the cop came to the door. Even more luckily, the cop was a friend if mine. He told me to go. Next thing I know theres a cop in front of me and one behind, sirens going. As we came into the next town I realize that he's sent out an alert...cops have blocked off every intersection between us and the hospital. Thanks buddy! We got to the hospital, he helped us in, and 12 minutes later my son is being weighed. Some one was seriously looking out for us this morning. Thank you!

Congrats Rob! I'm glad you made it in time, AND you didn't have to pace around for 18 hours either.

Holy crap Rob, that is an awesome story! Congratulations! Born in speed... off to a good start, LOL
Hope you have a week off work to enjoy the first moments, truly the best time with a new sleepy (and hopefully not colic) baby. Enjoy it!!!!

Thanks guys. It was hands down the craziest hour of my life. We took the C5 S6 Cruz I didn't want to wait for expensive forged pistons to warm up before hammering it. I'm glad I didn't have to pace around for hours, but my wife is even happier about it.

roortube wrote:Honestly, I'm considering stainless hard pipes for most of my fuel system with flex only at the ends. I'm still looking into it, but I think that the lower cost of stainless tubing vs flex hose will offset the cost of tools required, while providing a higher quality result. I'm thinking of either 31/48" pipe to -8an or 51/48 pipe to -10an feed limes with 31/48" to -8an return. Obviously the return line size is overkill, but if I do -8an feed I can save on tooling costs. Coils of stainless tube are much less expensive that equivalent coils of flex hose.
I also realized that I stock the aero motive 11101 pump and a1000 FI regulator on the shelf at work, and can get both together for $415. Any thoughts on that pump?
Solid Lines sure look clean....

I love the neatness of the fuel rail lines, but if bending.g custom why come in the hot right side? What's up with PCV from valve cover feeding back next to the wastegate? Looks good, but I see several things I'd do differently. Ultimately.lately this car will be functional but probably not pretty
I'm just beginning g to gear up to 07k my UrQ in a big way...that car is much better cosmetically and will get all the pretty stuff. The avant is my DD that's not boring.

I would assume it's the shortest route and that it's better to cross up over the hot side than under the car directly over the exhaust.
The PCV possibly goes back to the catch can but I agree that the water pipe to the wastgate could've been routed differently.
Robs S6 Avant...front suspension overhaul

It's been a long term since I've updated this thread, mostly because I've just been driving the shit out of this car and loving it. The front fenders are rustier, the headliner sags more, but it still runs great.
Two weeks ago it had it up for an oil change and did my customary once over. I found what appeared to be a loose right front whel bearing. At 270k miles and original, this made sense. I ordered a pair of front bearings and decided to do both. Once they came in and I began replacement things got interesting. I found that the bearing wasn't loose, the axle bolt was. When I torqued the bolt the play was gone, but now the bearing was noisey. I pulled both front strut housings to change the bearings. While doing so the LF ball joint became damaged. Time to order a pair of front control arms.
Next, I began stripping the front housings to press the bearings. First the ABS sensors refused to come out with out an air hammer. I ordered new sensors and retainers. Then, when I compressed the front springs and removed the top nut from the LF strut the shaft fell down under it's own weight. Also, the front mounts were torn, the boots were non existant, and it was generally a mess. New struts, mounts, and boots ordered. The housings were also a mess so I had them blasted and powder coated.
I have the housings done and new bearings in, but am waiting on some strut accessories, so perfect time to replace the control arms. Of course when I remove the bolts to the subframe mounts they just spin. The subframe mounts are toast. I've contacted AK motorsport in Poland to see when he may have some of his metal ones available, but have also ordered a set from Blau to get the car back together.
To some it up, what had started as one loose wheel bearing has quickly snowballed into a complete front suspension overhaul. I guess that's to be expected with a 20 year old car on original parts. I might post some pics, but let's be honest...I'm probably too lazy for that.
