haha, cleaner,,that's a good one hank. i may have to show up at dubwars and give you what fer!!!
Hank- Regarding the headlight trim pieces you asked about-I use the upper and lower trim pieces from a '85-'87 4kq with my sloped Cibies.
If you have the flat Cibies, which I think you might but hard to tell for sure in the pics, the lower piece is real hard to find - you'll need to find trim from a Euro 80q (4kq).
Derek, <bowing head> I know your car is cleaner, and inspirational... one of the best 4ks ive ever seen... expecially the trunk lid... but thats all you'll ever see, and that won't even be a close up
Brandon, Cool, I'll see if i can scavage some 4k parts... yes they are the early flat cibies.. pretty good shape too... You don't happen to know what mounting trey i need for under the actual lights for the bottom two tabs?? the ones off my 87 4k don't line up at all.. I'll probly just make something, but it would be too easy if i could find something
derracuda wrote:so um, maybe i missed what hank was getting at?? was he implying his car was faster, or just that mine as fast?
Good question. I wondered that meeself, although I think he meant to imply that the only thing you will be able to see is HIS trunk as he's jettin' away. You put that diff to use yet, D-rock?
ooohh hey Patrick...hehe fru t pants. the diffs been steam cleaned, but i'm trying to figure a way to get the rest of the paint off in the obscure areas. i'm also waiting for my turbo tranny to finish getting fit with a torsen for the front diff :-D but hopefully soon i'll be sporting that stuff  i gotta be able to keep up with hank 8)

Sounds like you're making progress. Torsen in the front? :woowoo: I'm thinking seriously of putting the Quaife in the rear of the UrQ, like James did. Gotta clean up the floorpan, though, and the rear subframe. It's a mess. :frustrated: With all the power I'm throwing at that chassis, I can't have it falling apart under torsional stresses. Finally got the engine running yesterday. Looking forward to the tuning session in the coming week or two. Also trying hard to make Carlisle. I'll be cutting it awfully close. Stay loose, and best of luck with the 4000. If you can't keep up with Hank, come borrow my UrQ for an afternoon. He can *try* to read the rear plates.

Hehe..ding ding.... Pat....you are the winner for crackin the riddle.....
No pikes peak Jim, thats sad.. where are you priorities... wifes pfff...
Wendsday is the turnkey day.... we'll see... Javad, you can run her at dubfest 05, and get your magic fingers crackin on the laptop... Hehe
Till wendsday....
And brandon, the upper trim off my 4kq works great, and the bottom will be trimmed to make fit..
Coo
Glad you can make the lowers fit - sounds interesting as they usually stick out too far and I'm trying to visualize a way they could be trimmed to be flush with the lower edge of the lamps....hmm as for the bracket - gotta use the Euro bracket or fab something.
Hank, I just decided to come out of the reading woodwork, register as a motorgeek, and introduce my damn self. I'm only a few hours away, starting a similar project on an allmost identical white car. I should be paying you weld 2 of everything; your work looks great!!
Looks sick. I really like your header and the whole car really. How much do those old Urquattro's weigh?
how much are the wastegate flanges for the audi gate??? I need one for my manifold because it has a tial 40mm flange on it, but I'm poor and using factory gate.
The US-spec ones are supposed to weight a little less than 3300 lbs, I think that's a matter of the bigger bumpers and the sunroof and the AC. AC-less cars with no sunroof and the Euro bumpers come in at a hair under 3000. They are actually quite light considering their size; they look small but park one next to a Jeep Cherokee and see which car is longer.
3300lbs!!!! my 4kq only weighs in at 3150 with me and a full tank of fuel and a tool box (i weigh 220). so. um, that number sounds high.....really high
