If nothing else whatever Pain Killers he got after the Back Surgery should have done a nice Brain Defrag.
Either that it it deleted sectors which could account for the lost bits of memory. ;-)

Cars is looking great. Glad your back is doing better.
Do you have a total tally of weight saved? If not how much would you guess. 150 - 200 lbs? Or is that way off?

still puttin in work, always doing something. even if it isnt on the list or needed.

i have whittled down the list multiple times only to keep adding to it as i go.

have i added info on the new battery system? probably not. did i put up Chubs shifter video? i will have to check that.

but today, i did something unnecessary to the performance of the project. and those of you who have stuck around since the beginning, will know that i talked about this 4+ years ago. well, i have done it. had some time, was bored, and i am the guy who changes things because he can.

and so, the roof is black now, black with platinum pearl. kinda made the whole upper end dark like the CF hood was. i left the wing the color of the car. the new rear hatch vinyl will be black. i think it looks great so far and will look much better when completed. and this is the guy who BAILED on my first paint job, BTW. he will never go away completely so i may as well get work out of him. shoot, i provide him with a vehicle to drive its the least he could do!!!

and someone wanted to help me mask out the car this morning, so of course who am i to refuse my #1 guy?

and right after we put on the first heavy coat of clear, i decided some pearl was in order. so we had to go back to his house to get the pearl.

Image

Image

and since he had already painted the hatch, well he had to paint the black again for the pearl.

Image

Image

ahhh yes. it does look pretty good.

it dont look bad at all!!!! especially for garage done and racecar only :) i want to wait for a few days before i put the hatch back on, but it looks good. and the main thing? IT LOOKS DIFFERENT!

and for those that dont recall, Jan 18, 2009 i discussed this.

picture a Gen 1 mitsu eclipse.... that type of theory... the only down side is that big expanse on the hatch pillar. it would look great with dark tinted windows, but i dont run tint on the strip.... its all just planing. and he took the rear lower bumper repaint rather wel actually. i had to stroke his ego some, and tell him that his idea (which was the whole thing) in the first place was better. so i think when i go home next wekend, doors will be done as well.

Derek, please expand on this "beltline" is that the door trim?

Yea, Im diggin' it too. Have seen a few cars done in that style that I really liked. MkI TT, Corrado, etc. Lengthens the car visually...

Looks good, but I think you should have done the b-pillars too. At least shine 'em up :)

Also, the car looks like a little pickup truck with the hatch off. :D

its not too late, cuz he forgot the A-pillars aGAIN!

he paints black a couple times a week, on jetski hulls or something he makes.

Aaron, I really like what this does for the car. It looks fantastic! I was seriously considering doing this to my car in a wrap to avoid painting the roof. I still might plasti dip it just to see what it looks like. I think this scheme works really well on the B3 cars.

thanks guys!!! i like it. its kinda blue-ish inside the garage. i dunno.

but i have been making some progress on building my new fuel cell. uses an IE twin 044 pump mount plate. and since my TIG machine is at a friends shop from when i went to Vegas last year (too lazy to get it and dont know how to use it anyways so its a moot point) i ran over to Dereks house a couple times for some tacky tacks. dropping it off at the welders in the AM. and Derek has gotten really good at the TIG, he could weld it out in an hour plus or so. but the welder for me is prepaid sooooo......

rumor has it the fuel cell is being welded up.

i was bored so i did a lil WG solenoid mounting. since i changed the structures up front nothing fit anymore like the WG lines to the boost control solenoid. so i bent some new ones up, always trying to use what i already have bent and ferruled up if i can. and i really didnt like it totally. a couple days went by and then today i changed them. now i like them much more better. (yep i said it :) )

Image

and now finalized and finished.

Image

and i have to get a few parts anodized red for a friend in Germany, and it is way below the minimum pcs so i would have to pay a lot just to get them done. so to make it worth my while, i am going to do a few parts of my own. thinkin the VC, the turbo compressor, and definitely the fuel cell. leaving the piping to the AWIC and the IM the way they are.

and the AWIC reservoir and core are going to be Linex'd for insulating and to keep water from beading up outside of it and dripping down onto the ground in front of the tire.

also, i am waiting on the last of the latest order from Summit (freakin two orders in a week!) to finish plumbing the fuel lines. got extra fittings so i can change it from plain black to black and red. its a preference thing. doing stuff always different over here.

and the dry sump reservoir is also in this latest order as well, so i can get it fitted and mounted hopefully. went 7.5 qt baffled, but wont run it that full at all.

i also got another new fuel filter. i was filtering post pump to 40 microns with SS element, but now i will filter post pumps to 6 microns.

from left to right:

Fuelab with 6 micron, Aeromotive with 40 micron , and Trick Flow with 100 micron.

had to build a fuel cell. and i use whatever i have layin around. thise thing was a huge reflector for lighting at a plant i worked at and they scrapped it cuz it threw too many shadows. i kept a chunk and have been nibbling away at it.

made the basic shape to fit in the location i have to work with. fitted it all up and had my buddy nearby tack it together. then had Nubvr weld it out like always!!

welded out and putting the parts in it.

fitted in place and working on the fuel lines.
