Guys, this gave me a good chuckle.

I haven't been on here much lately, just periodically to follow a few builds.
Saturday was the first day since beginning of November that I've driven(even seen :hide: ) the 200 as it had been sitting in a friends driveway for winter/special reasons.

It took 2 cranks and it fired right up and I drove it around for a little while.

Since it had been sitting so long the brakes were pretty rusty, and upon heavy breaking it wobbles like the dickens and is somewhat terrifying. I assume once it has worn down to an even surface this will go away.

I've been playing around with the idea of selling the car due to lack of interest, but have noticed coolant has been disappearing. I cannot for the life of me get this car to stop leaking coolant, although I'm starting to think there is some headgasket to blame. Car is 180,000 miles on stocker. I say this due to the fact that I monitor the coolant level and although it leaks on the ground, it drops 2 levels every time I drive, an initial amount and then slowly drops again as it sits and drips to the ground.

Plan at the moment is to set some money aside and do head gasket/studs/timing belt, etc.

Oh, and while I'm in there swap in the 7A cams that I've been hoarding and finally set up the COP kit that has been sitting on my shelf for 5 months.

I'm also still looking for an intake boot, would prefer to get a cheaper used one because if I do decide to build the car some more, a new turbo will definitely be going on. 8-)

I'm going to need someone who knows how to tune with VEMS to visit Cincinnati...I can't drive and tune at the same time...

Wouldn't a leaking HG show up as milky froth on the oil cap or in the reservoir?

You'll have to forgive my ignorance :shame:

While there is no milky froth anywhere, the amount that it dripping onto the ground isn't even close to what drains from the reservoir.

I've been dealing with coolant leaks for the past 2 years and I've run out of places to check...

So the reservoir will empty itself? or it'll just disappear?

Back when my 5ktq was in its 20v CIS days I SWORE I had a bad HG cause I'd have coolant that disappeared for zero reason.
After replacing the HG it still had disappearing coolant that did not leak out of the reservoir or the hoses, or block.
The last thing I could narrow it down to was possibly the turbo seals. Maybe. Never figured it out.

Yeah, I wouldn't jump to conclusions. There is no reason to rebuild a 3b based on mileage alone.

After it sits for a while it'll do some white smoke on startup, not sure if it's related.

It'll go through a reservoir worth every week of consistent driving.

It leaves behind noticeable coolant on the driveway, but it doesn't appear to be nearly as much as I'm adding. I don't know if it's leaking into an area where it's being retained on the frame, etc. and gets blown out while driving.

I just keep adding coolant and write it off as a leak somewhere, I just don't want to miss anything catastrophic.

Mine would disappear after hard driving, and would not be anywhere in the bay. Yet as far as I know it wouldn't smoke.

Was the weirdest thing.........

I'd fix your leak first then consider other options...

It's great to see your thread alive. I'd agree on not rebuilding and finding the leak. I bet your coolant neck is cracked at the top and as it expands it leaks I'm sure you'll find it if you take the time when its warmed up (You can also just tighten further up on that coolant neck if you are desperate) :hide:

I hope you choose to build it!

This saddens me. I think we would all be like "damn! Why would you sell an 800 whp 200!?" But then again lol, I'm an idiot ;)

It's still not good news but at least your thread came alive recently :)

While somewhat short lived, this will be the last update in this thread.

As of 04/24/2016 the car has been sold to Jake(midnight) and it will now be up to him to continue the work!

I'd like to thank everyone who helped with the car throughout the years, especially loxxrider, amdisthebest, chaloux, themagellan, pilihp2, and many others.

This car was a heck of a learning experience and a lot of fun to have. It will be very bittersweet.

Last picture with the car.
