Alright well it's update time since I've been so sparse to even get a hold of recently.

Wagon is at the house and the motor is getting torn down and the short block rebuilt tomorrow. We decided to use the head that came off of my old 20vt with the stainless valves and port work. I'm also going use my hogged out exhaust manifold as the one that came on this motor is 10x worse. He's going to buy a tubular setup from me in the future after I get set up with the TIG.

The machine shop checked out the head after what it went through and they said everything is fine and in good shape.

Now, on to the fun stuff, battery is going to be relocated to the rear like most 20v cars, I'm throwing my already bent tie rod in his car (assuming it's the same as whats on there already), making brackets for the 200 intercooler, and doing a much more cleaner job of fabbing up the bypass valve system.

For now, we are going to stick with stock boost levels and the MC2 cam so as not to anger the CIS gods again (learned my lesson on that one)

I'm just thankful for the weather we've been having. Ultra sunny and 60-degrees. Could not ask for better weather during this time of the year

I guess you didn't take Gerners advice on honing. Oh well, it's Idaho! Run the crap out of it!

Customer wanted it rebuilt to begin with. Upon disassembly, one rod bearing needed to be changed regardless as it wouldnt have lasted another 10,000 miles before oil pressure problems

I must have missed that. Didnt realize there was something from him about that. Ive always honed this way and have never had any blowby or excessive oil consumtion.

Edit: just read it. This is going to be a 250ish hp motor when all said and done. When I honed mine before blowing it up I had minimal blowby and oil loss (if any)

WTH were those bearings/balls? I've seen something similar from the coolant passages, from a stop-leak product before... is that it?

Under the head studs. Keeps them from bottoming out on the threads.

1/4" ball bearings. They go under the headstuds as dave said. They keep threads from bottoming out which keeps the studs under compression rather than tensile or torsional forces
