It'll be there Matt, probably not with an efr though!

I want to see a Loxx dual plenum IM! Synchronized flow for the win yo.
Chris, I know how much you like to simulated CFD stuff. Oh, and just to troll your oil field work buddies, run E85. Hehehehe

Lol not in this car Haha. There is no e85 out here :(
No dual plenum either Haha! This is not the revver build, so stop trying to convince me to make it into one

*plugs ears* Lalalala I can't hear you

When we did (Very brief) testing on a valved 6758 in the mule I took it around the block and the thing feels damn near NA for response. It's a hoot.

I believe the plan is solidified now.
Apikol will perform:
-Install southbend stage 3 street clutch kit
-replace slightly weeping selector shaft seal
-replace shift linkage ballpoint socket bushing thing (the one on top of the Trans)
-Install updated rear main seal from 1.8t. PN: 028103171B (thanks Hank)
-add vband to current 3" exhaust for easier removal
-??
There is one extra thing I ordered up and asked them to prepare for the car. Don't get your hopes up too high, but it could make for a little fun at Carlisle if Marc brings my VEMS along with him. Can't go to Carlisle without launch control you know!
I picked stage 3 clutch over stage 4 becuase I don't really plan on making over 450 ft lbs with this car at all and the organic clutch material should last a little longer than the feramic I guess. Also opened up the imaginary budget a bit for the mystery mod.
I almost decided to put a rear main seal with hall sensor in it in, but I decided the extra cost and complication aren't worth it at the moment. It'd probably eliminate any chance of trigger errors with VEMS though, so it was a worthy consideration. This 1.8t seal should perform well though workout worry for leaks in the future.

Good to see you picked one up man!
the S6 avant I just picked up is the most comfortable and awesome daily driver I've ever had. I just drove my B5 today for the first time in two weeks. Loving the avant.
What do you do in the oil fields? I work in a refinery so I'm suffering from the same BS, mass budget cuts, pay freeze, shitloads of overtime because they won't hire anyone else. Working 19 on 2 off now . Pays for VEMS .
What did you think of the H1c you had in your other car? Not sure if I should spend time and money on that or just go straight to EFR or whatever Hank recommends

I am currently an LWD / DD engineer. That stands for logging while drilling and directional drilling. I can explain if you don't know what that is. Basically I'm like a navigator for directional drilling. I hope to become a directional driller in the next few years.
The cuts suck. I lost $50 per day out of my pay, $250 per month off of my vehicle allowance, and they took all of my scheduled vacation away. I literally work 27 days a month most months and every single other day of the year except my 10 days of vacation are on call! It's ridiculous, but I knew that going in. Sounds like yours isn't much different at the moment.
The cuts are not good, but if you can make it through them it usually makes for very fast advancement when things pick back up. So that's the upside.
I really liked the h1c (or hx35) for practical reasons. It can be had for $150, can be rebuilt for $85 on the bench at home if needed without balancing, typically won't ever need a rebuild unless you damage it, and they make good power.
The ONLY drawback to them is spool. That said, an h1c will only lose about 250 rpm in spool to a gt30r. To me that's well worth the other benefits.
Now if you really care about spool and transient response, you have to consider whether the order of magnitude difference in price between a holset and efr us worth it to you. It wasn't to me before, but now that it's affordable to me, I figure why not.

At this point I may use the holset I have now. I am really looking forward to tuning the car in close to stock form just to see what I can do with it , then add some real parts later. I need to learn more about how the VEMS works. I was having some difficulty keeping the boost under control on my coupe, with the 034 manifold I had I don't know if it was the poor design of the manifold or me not understanding how the boost tuning works. But in the future Id like to do an EFR or similar. I can't turn down the technology that's out there now. The tial 770 turbos I have in my S4, it's insane how fast that car spools with that size of turbo and only 3 cylinders pushing each turbo. I guess that's all due to the BB and Billet wheel.

Looks like you got a real good deal with that avant man. At the age that these cars are now low mileage sometimes doesn't mean the same is it did, and it's not always better. You can get one with double the miles at half the price with more new parts in it.

Exactly! That was the idea here. I was ready to turn it down due to miles, but then I learned that the car has been maintained with essentially an unlimited budget for it's entire life. To me, it's much better off than a lower mileage car without the same maintenance. The diff and trans may go around 350k, but that's OK with me! It'd be well worth it at that point and I'd put new stuff in and keep going
Yeah, the new tech is nice. You just have to figure out what you want. I think it's a great idea to wrap your head around vems in a mostly stock car. If you need help, we're here for ya

Apikol has finished up the clutch and related work.
They did the SB stage 3, checked the flywheel for flatness, installed new selector shaft seal, new rear main seal (there was a groove from the old seal, but the new 1.8t sealing surface wasn't in the same place... This bodes well for the chance of no leaks), installed a new selector socket for the end of the shift linkage. The old one was worn out and the ball on the transmission part of the interface was apparently loose. They welded that back on so it's nice and tight. They say it shifts muuuuch better now than before. Super happy to hear that!
They also changed a lot about the exhaust to get it tucked up to the body closer. Gave me a nice high quality flex joint, nicer transitions, and a new vband connection for easier removal. Also added one more fun thing to it

Just trying to get registration paperwork figured out so it can be driven here. I hope the clutch holds up to the log trip without being broken in with city driving beforehand...

Alright! I can't wait to see it at Carlisle! With its... cut-out valve?? I will be very happy if there's a fire-spitting Avant!

Right now I'm actually a little nervous about it getting here in time. The registration process is really frustrating right now since it's still out of state.

Do they require a VIN check now? 16 yrs ago, I feel like you could show up at a 3rd party title place and transfer the title.

Yeah, it's the vin check that's holding things up. It has to be done by a police officer and the state trooper is slow as hell when comes to scheduling this kind of thing.

Hmmm, we have VIN checks in CO too, will PA take one from another state (I probably know this answer).
The PA form does have a strange "OR" here: "ATTACH TRACING HERE
OR HAVE AUTHORIZED NOTARY PUBLIC
EMPLOYED BY A FULL AGENT OR MOTOR VEHICLE DEALER, OR
INSPECTION MECHANIC COMPLETE THE VERIFICATION
INFORMATION BELOW."
Almost reads like tracing OR others

It's actually getting registered in FL. Florida will take one from another state, but they need either dealer verification on dealer letterhead or Police verification. The local dealer in CO won't give him a verification on their letterhead for some stupid reason. They just fill out some other form which the FL DMV (or tax collector's office) will not accept.
http://www.flhsmv.gov/dmv/forms/BTR/82042.pdfIf you know of a dealer near Boulder CO that will do it on their letterhead I'd love to know about it.

I'll think about a dealer. Actually, you may try calling Booth Motors in Longmont. It's a long story but, I've heard that the owner is an enthusiast who opened the place basically to flip cool cars. I wish I could give you more of a lead, maybe somebody from Apikol knows them.
Otherwise, how does FL feel about an Air Care Colorado location? Pseudo official bureaucracy anyway!

They're really strict. Has to be a dealer on dealer letterhead or a law enforcement officer. Know any police?

Ok, I think we have it figured out. Just need to get the exhaust finished up (my fault, not apikol's) and then get some documentation, have then overnighted to FL, get it registered by someone other than me becuase I'm not there at the moment, and then overnight the plate back to CO so Drew can drive it!
