gots me crank back with the gear pinned to it....

the steel pin isnt seated, its just hand pressed in there just to show whats what. hoping this keeps things together for many 9k+ rpm pulls to come. should have the head in a day or two, then thats off to QED to get assembled and have my CAT cams timed in the head, so i now have alllll the bottom end parts that i need (brand new everything including nuts and bolts cause now that i have ETKA i get my hands on everything that i can, lol) and then hopefully the car goes on the ground tomorrow, gotta set up with my friend when i can get it on a trailer and off to the welders house for the cage, then from there, its back on the trailer and down the road to get a full respray, color is a secret though....just know its going to look pretty schweet with the bronze rims i have the this certain red paint.

just need to go back to the local speed shop tomorrow in the am and get shorter radius rod, cause against my better judgement i got it about 1/2 inch too long and it'll be completely impossible to align the car. fiddle sticks.

but, these tie rods now leave clearance for my tires, so im stoked about that.

exactly... looks good.

put the fender washer on the inner joints as well.... or make the plate to cover both bolts at once. i have yet to do that myself, one of those little to-do items :)

i DIDNT put a washer on the bottom of that bolt you see, from the nut to the strut arm, cause the nut fits almost perfectly in where the stock tie rod boot thingy would go, and sits flush. this was just to make sure everything fit, once its the real deal ill put a washer down there.

Sorry Zerb, I just got to reading your thread. Damn you sure ran into a few hurtles at the beginning. Good call just fabbing up your own stuff, imo the install looks a lot more impressive that way.

so i just got the thing off the jackstands, and now im really starting to get the itch to get it done before snowfall. just a few things, the rear springs seem pretty pretty low, i think i may need to get longer springs....iirc i went with 7 inchers, maybe 450lbs. but i was so excited to see it sitting on the ground i think i had the coil completely adjusted as low as possible, so ill have to take a look see. also, the tie rod arms are angled up, bad???

thats partly why i moved the rod ends to the top of the bracket there, so they are level.

all my pix are down on PB right now, they been looked at too many times.... but you seen it so you know.

your goal is to keep the steering rod and the control arm on the same plane.... since you went to the top to gain tire clearance, that is why it looks like that.

yours probably matters to be "right" more than mine, as you will street drive yours.

hmmmm....ill have to take a look see and see if i can do something about that. i could always drill two hole and put then right on top like you did aaron to see if that helps. ill have to take them off and place them there first to see if itll help enough to actually go through with. other then that i dont really have an option as far as i can see.

car is quite low...and it has absolutely no suspension movement, lol. its stiff as schit when i hop on the sub frame and jump up and down. and looking from the back its sitting a bit lopsided, but that could be the suspension setup, cause i never really checked how i had the coil over nuts adjusted as far as height goes.

no motor in? that will add weight to front and drop it some....

i run 650's in front. think how stiff that is :)

i figured that motor.tranny would drop it some in the front. but i figured the back was the way it was going to be for the long haul, considered the only thing back there will be fuel and some pumps, nothing too too heavy. its def light as as hell too, ill put it on the scales my buds use for the dirt track car once its all done and together to get the final weight.

on a side note, i called my buddy chris and asked about the tie rod situation, and he currently has his motor out of his car and the thing up on stands, suspension unloaded....and he said his tie rod assemblies are angled like mine and thats without the thing in the ground, lol. i went to the garage and looked if i can put them up top....itd be pretty easy, and itd def level them out to almost flat.

ok ok, ill make it tomorrow.

...i was just being lazy cause i didnt wanna re powdercoat it, but ill make it and then throw it in the pile of parts that need to be coated, lol.

seems you just chopped the top of that bracket that bolts to the rack off, then welded angle iron to the front of it? those bolts are welded in there from the bottom? or are there just drilled holes for them to go through?

i left the bracket in one piece. took a piece of angle 1/4" thick, drilled the holes upwards, welded the bolts to the angle from the inside, and then welded it to the bracket.

one thing, i did the EGT on the DP with the WB02 bungs. that way its getting an average reading.... you will definitely know how much cyl 3 is.... but cylinders can vary some between them....

i asked mr kevin black were to put it and he told me right there, so thats what i did. i will have two probes as a matter of fact. one right there on cylinder three, which is going to go right into my SEM and then im going to put another one right before the turbo like the picture above, and that is going to go to my gauge on my dash.

I thought the idea was to get the hottest cylinder?

right, thats the idea. which is why i have it in number three for the ECU, which i thought was more inportant, and then ill have it on all four for the gauge on the dash.

only thing im worried about is one of those little probes breaking off, and my turbo eating it....which i have heard of before, but im quite sure its not a commonly occuring thing.
