on the rear end i had the delrin bushings made up a long time ago, and those worked pretty well back there. the fronts you can't use delrin because of the two axis movement of the steering arm... but i do plan to use sphericals up front on this project 8)

you mean for the rear tie-rod? like the portion that attaches to the subframe?

Just making sure... I like where your heads at ;)

yes, at the inner rear tie rod mounting point. unfortunately, the stock 4kq rear tie rods are kind of dying out, so there wasn't much sense in making a run of 100 sets of delrin bushings :( so from here on out, it'll be spherical rod ends on this car.

mmm, brakes :D

takes up a lot of space behind a 19" rim... too bad i can't run 19's on this car, otherwise 11" wide here i'd be comin'!

i hope to have a 5x130 hub conversion update here in the next week or so depending on my machinist's schedule. i think you'll all approve very much.

niiiice....
I'm likin the twists better anyway even if the 19s did work out...
plus, don't you think 10 in is wide enough :D

if i was going to use the gallardo rims, i wouldn't need to convert to 5x130, but just 5x112 instead. and yeah, 10" is enough i guess *shrugs* :P

Ah, gotcha. Did you follow the same design concept as the CA bushings, or did you make two separate halves w/ shoulders instead?

Just curious as that'd be something I'd consider doing. But after buying new arms (~$80 each) and then paying for machining for the bushings ($??) you'd probably be close in price to the 034 ones at $200ish.

decisions decisions ;) HOpefully my rear tierod ends are OK for now, so won't have to cross that bridge yet.

i did two piece bushings with a shoulder 8)

viola' 5x130 using the existing 4x108 hubs...

what we have here are steel rings, machined to fit the stock hubs (also slightly machined for perfect fit) from the backside, sandwiched together as a package from the adapter, through the stock hub, through the rotor, and the wheel. it's all hub centric and there's nowhere for anything to go 8)

Image

Image

.002 interference fit.. fits like a glove
Image

Image

chevy truck 14x1.5mm wheel studs. the new bolt circle puts them out away from the spindle enough to replace with the hub still in the bearing.. in the spindle/bearing housing.
Image

Image

the rear hubs sit further in, so the adapter had to be machined a bit for clearing the sprindle/bearing housing.
Image

test fit in the porsche wheel...perfect.
Image

test fit in the 345x32mm rotor... perfect (just need to drill the holes myself)

Took me a minute to fully grasp what you did here, but nice work! I guess there is no need for welding with this setup. Can't wait to see how things progress. :-)

April Fools?

Don't think so... anyway when do Derracuda's one stop wheel adapters go on sale to the general public?

correct, no welding. after some discussion with the machinist, we determined that welding wouldn't be the best route since for the best outcome, we'd need to test the hub to get the metal identified, then find matching material, then for the welding, then for heat treating, and then for machining... this was the simplest, safest, most straight forward concept. thanks to maarten of NL for helping spawn the idea 8)

as for selling them... i'd have to see how it works out first. and i don't have a store or anything, but i could do a one by one basis conversion if someone asked me to. i'm not set up for production by any means.

Derek why dont you cut a V-channel on the surface where the rotor sits and weld the 2 pieces together rather than press fit?Just for added security?

by cuatrokoop
He didn't want to weld because of things like heat treat, plus with the studs passing through the ring, it acts like a clamp. I don't see an issue with it.

Better to over engineer than under engineer....

but welding and messing with the metalurgy is called de-engineering :P it's fine the way it is man :)

Not to the point of adding complexity and cost to an operation.

Want to set me up a package deal with the hubs and the set of the 7.5" twists???

The more I look at it the more ingenious it is. Quick question why didn't you thread the holes and use regular studs?

Would it be possible to do these in other bolt patterns? 5x114.3, 5x112, etc

Possible with the 5x114.3....My hubs from the track car were done that way for the Volks.

hmmm, why didn't i thread the holes... well, mainly because i planned to use these studs from the beginning... the wheel bolt thing kinda sucks even though it works just fine. these studs have the cone on them and make cross threading nuts very hard, and i like that. plus, with this stud arrangement, it helps with the encapsulating of the whole spacer/hub/rotor/wheel package.

5x112 is already doable, 5x114.3 would be a bit of a squeeze on the 5x112 hubs, but i'm not sure if it would work safely...
