Well, it looks like a car again!

Tomorrow I need to get the the last of the OEM wiring run, and put the interior back together. Then it will be off to Georges shop for alignment and inspection. Woohoo!

Thanks Dana, we will see how far I get with this today... I forgot I have my follow up appointment this morning. Hopefully it goes quickly, I'm sitting in the waiting room now.

Well, looks like it pretty much down to the wire again. I is in the shop now for inspection and alignment! The engine is running crazy rich again, so will need to get some tuning done ASAP. Anyone ever use the Live Tune for MS?

The Bandit made it to and from Carlisle. Even in the rain, it was a good time. I love catching up with everyone, and actually getting to talk about these old cars. I didn't take any pics, but thanks to others, I have some. This one is thanks to grillage!

Image

The rain helps out with the ugliness

I haven't done anything to it sense, but I need to figure out why the reverse lights arent working. I'm pretty sure I cut a wire I shouldn't have :shame: other than that, I need to figure out the dead timing of these deka injectors, and get to work tuning. The switch from batch to sequential has done some not so nice things to the fuel trims. For all I know, it could also have something to do with the 044 pump I installed. The OEM pump may have been dieing for longer than I thought.

Nice to see that it seems to be working for you! :)

Funny coincidence, I accidentally cut my reverse lights to.
I found the connector for it in my connector-bin the other day :hide:

Got them fixed today! Turns out I didn't have the connector on the whole way :shame:

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have the wife take me back over so I can bring it home finally. I'm looking forward to driving it again.

Thanks Mike! I can go with its sounds good, not so much the looks of it  but then again, that's half the cars charm...

Crazy day! I decided to pick my wife up from work due to the light rain we were having. When we got home there was a tow truck from a local salvage yard parked in front of my car. He got out with the wedge, air bag and hook. I figured the Pontiac next to me locked his keys in the car(been there). I watched him walk between the 2 cars, smack my roof rack, and start driving the wedge into my DS window frame. I immediately went over and asked "can I help you?". The guy turns to me with a pissy look and say "No!". Then he proceeded to argue with me that he was there to meet some guy named Logan, to open up his black VW to see if he key was in the car! I told him it was my car and to get his damn hand off of it, and he flat out called me a liar! I pulled he key from my pocket and asked if he wanted me to open the door of my black Audi! He then looked around, saw the crowd growing around my car, and grabbed his shit and left. He then went 2 streets down from me and picked up a blue MK4 jetta and left with it. What a Dick! When I called the company, she was just as rude and told me I was wrong, and the driver never touched my car! Wow! If my car goes missing, I know where to send the cops first!

Ok, rant over. Now I'm going to bed...

What an arrogant stooge. All them German cars look alike huh? If I caught some one trying to tweak my door frame I don't know what I'd do. I guess "Logan" didn't find his keys huh?

I guess not, but how the hell do you mistake a 91 Audi for a MK4 Jetta? I was just pissed and dumbfounded by the whole situation.

Wow, that's just... I have no words.

If that business is a member of the BBB or on Yelp, you should log a sternly worded complaint.

I asked around, and the place is apparently notoriously shady. My whole complex is now on alert about it.

As for swing it go down, if I hadn't decided to pick up my wife, I probably would have never known about it. I just don't understand why someone would want my old car. I guess some of the parts are worth money, but not enough to steal it.

OMG!

Word of advice if something like that ever happens again: FIRST pull out your phone and take a photo of the person doing what he's doing, and one of his vehicle with identifying info (company name on side, license plate).

Then if the person tries to give you any s**t, make it clear to him the photos will be sent to 1) the police and 2) the entire internet.

Thats good advice Eric! Hind sight is 20:20, and there are a couple things I should have done. It all happened so quick, that I didn't even think.

On a good note, just got home from work, and the car is still here. Oh, and everhthing that should be inside is. I'm pobably going to move it to my parents house this weekend. I hate not having it with me, but doing so may keep it safe. For now.

Yeah I'm not sure I would have had the presence of mind to do that either! But giving it some thought in advance might help.

Does the place where you live have video surveillance of the parking lot? If not, you might let them know about this incident and others if you're aware of any, and ask if they'd be willing to install some cameras.

And maybe call the police and report the incident? I'm not sure if they'd care or not (make it clear you think the guy was trying to steal your car) but if they did, then it would be on record.

Wow that's ridiculous Dave! I had to read the whole thing after you mentioned it. If they're not too far away you should go to the place and ask to meet all their drivers so you can point out the dip$hit to the owner. How could you identify a perp from an even you made up? :D

Well, with talking to some of the guys at work, I found out that place is pretty shady. Apparently this wouldn't be the first time they were caught and convicted of B&E and auto theft. So I doubt they would care even if I did point him out. They would probably just get pissed the he got caught.

One of the guys at work just couldn't understand why they would want to steal my old audi. I had to explain to him it wasnt the car they wanted, but the items in the car. I don't even want to try and figure out what it would cost to replace all of the goodies that are in and on this car.

Well, as the title change says, it could have been worse.

I decided to go out to see how well the tunerstudio auto tune setup works. It seemed to be doing a great job of dialing in the low load areas, so I figured it was time to see how well it did under boost. I got on a decently flat road, got it in 3rd gear @2k rpm, and gave it hell to about 6k rpm. Seemed to be doing well as the afr's were pretty descent. All of the sudden I started smelling raw gasoline, and a lot of it. I thought I might have been able to limp it home(all 1.5 miles) because it seemed to go away. I tried to pull out from a stop sign and only got to about 5mph and it shuddered and shut off. I coasted into the grass, and threw the hood up, lots of smoke and gasoline smell. Oh, I forgot to mention, my daughter was in the back seat! I got her out very quickly, just hoping the car didn't ignite.

Turns out the fuel injectors had room to move between the head and the fuel rail. The last pull I had done made the fuel pressure high enough to push the injector for cylinder #1 completely out of the rail. Doing this sprayed fuel all over the place. I got it towed back to my apartment, and will pull the rail hold down so I can modify it to move the fuel rail down.

I was more concerned about getting my daughter out and away from the car than anything else. I've never been so scared driving this car. I'm just glad my daughter is ok, and it will be an easy fix.

Good luck, and here's hoping for no repeats of that any time soon. Or ever.
