I got off work this morning at 6am, came home and slept for a few hours and forced myself to get up and try to get something done on the project. It just wasn't to be. The first thing that came up was my wife complaining about hosting a bookclub GTG on Tuesday and reminding me that the A/C in the house isn't working. You may recall that a few weeks ago I mentioned that I changed out the compressor on the 5ton house unit. When doing this because I didn't have any R22 and because I wanted to do my part in keeping the ozone healthy, I evacuated the old gas for reuse. The problem with that is you never can get it all and I ended up not fully charged on the new compressor. You would think that a guy ought to be able to buy some refrigerant for his home, but no, big brother has to get in the way of yet another aspect of our lives. It turns out you have to have an EPA card and license to buy refrigerant.
That was my quest for the day.......R22! I finely managed to talk an old friend that I hadn't seen in years into letting me use his license and EPA card. :woowoo: The A/C is again feeling cool and the wife is happy. By the way as I was running to buy this in my TT, the temp registered 117f on the dash.

It was a hot one today.
Got that taken care of at about 3 in the afternoon and made it out to the garage. I know that most won't believe this, but remember that new freezer that I bought a couple of weeks ago? It was August 1st to be exact.......well I went out to the garage to find it in high temp alarm and the meat thawing
again. :x I empty everything out again, load it up in my truck, grab the receipt, and head for Lowe's. They tell me that because it is past 7 days that I would have to call the toll free number and schedule a tech to look at it. I really hate being pushy and rude, but I about had a melt down. I told them they didn't understand, apparently, that I had over $500 worth of meat unthawing at the very moment and that calling for an appointment wasn't an option. After going through the chain of command to the top, I finely left with a new replacement. They were $47 cheaper today, so I even got a refund. I'm now back in business again, but the day was pretty well shot.
New freezer getting ready to turn on and load.

And now I have two owners manuals in 4 different languages.

I couldn't stand to not do something however and since it was only 9pm and my master clutch firewall brace had arrived from 034 I decided that I would make an attempt to install it. It would have been so much easier with the engine out and installed with the rack and M/C. The instructions say the it can be squeezed in without braking lines, but they obviously hadn't considered my new paint. I ended up pulling the brake M/C off of the vacuum assist along with all the lines and proportioning valve so that I could get access. I even had to crawl back under the dash and disconnect the pedal so that I could pull the clutch M/C all the way out. The two bolts in the fender well holding the rack in place also had to be removed to be able to slide the rack enough to sandwich the brace in between. It was a PITA, but looks to be much stiffer.
The brace oriented in the direction of install. The 034 link

The rack slid over enough to get the brace sandwiched in between.

Trying to get it installed without pulling the clutch M/C. Wasn't happening.

Installed

I got the brake M/C square profile o-ring installed also while everything was apart. Got alot done, just not on the car. Now if I could only go to sleep so that I can go to work at 5am tomorrow morning. It's hard going from nights to days.
