I agree, the power and more importantly instant torque is nice in a sub-3k lb car, but you do get used to it relatively quick, maybe because they are such smooth-power motors? Couple small turbos or a SC with lower boost would certainly make it even more fun. Work on your chassis first, though. Do a bunch of driving schools - driver mod is always the best mod anyone can do!

I'm sure it will keep me smiling for more than 4 months :P Just the sound this thing makes is enough to put a smile on my face.

Peter, you hit that one on the head. I'm saving up money right now so I can do at least one HPDE this year. I'm going to miss the first audi club HPDE at thunderhill in january, but I'm hoping to catch the next one. Since audi club events are expensive compared to others I might join another club like Hooked On Driving so I can get more track time. Setting up the car will be fun, and I dont exactly need a track to do that with the roads i have at my disposal.

Time for an update. It's small, but its still progress.

Got the serp belt back on and bolted the radiator in and dumped some coolant in(still needs at least another gallon), sourced some of the special power steering fluid needed for my pump, and started to reassemble the front end of the car. Got all the stainless trim and the plastic trim for the headlights on.

This is the closest this car has been to being a complete car since I purchased it over three years ago and the first time I have seen it with any trim or a bumper on the front. I didn't have a matching red bumper handy so a white one was borrowed just so I could see the car with a front bumper.

Went from this....

To this...

This is the V8Q power distribution block that I didnt have a pic of until now. Mounted on the passenger side of the firewall.
Image

Set of 4ks FWD aux gauges in place of the quattro selector switch. Keepin my eye out for a set of the later back-lit gauges.
Image

NOS Votex front lip spoiler anyone? Trust me, I asked...and was told "NO, keep your filthy paws off".
Image

Sorry about the lame pictures. Completely forgot about my "only video from now on" policy.

Thanks Ben.

Chris- I would bolt it on my car but I'm not allowed to touch it :P They make 4kq's look way better. They should have had them from the factory. I'm most likely going to get the 2bennett reproduction, it's nice although it doesnt have the foux air inlets on the front like the real votex.

Justin- Sending PM.

3B conversion that is gonna go back to it's owner soon. CGT wiring swap(whole car wiring), all new brakes, lines, fuel line relocation, vacuum boost conversion, etc, etc. tons of work on this car to make it a driver again.

ringbearer - Sorry to hear that. It's nice to know where a loved one is once you've sold it.
Nedry - We intalled four thread-serts into each frame horn so the core is a bolt on affair for easy R&R.

Would you mind snapping a few pics detailing the modifications? If it is a PITA don't worry about it, just trying to find the best solution to make mine easily serviceable.

Great Scott!

Sounds like it will be a nice car when all said and done. Is the 3b stock?

Yes, and if you have anymore questions please PM Derek and ask him to start a thread for that build

yeah, that's why I haven't mounted it on my car yet. I've been trying to find a professional to do the job, and hopefully, a guy I met the other day will be interested in the job. He's been doing composites for 30+ years and is laid off right now. If it goes well, I'll try to find other things for him to make too :)

by the way Dan, nice 4000 ;)
