IAC lol
Who needs it? Not running one on my AAN VEMS beast and have a rock solid idle. but then again no ac or power steering etc.

Hah, cool maybe I'll leave it off cuz it also starts cold quite nicely. I do have AC and I love it. My 5k sure doesn't have it so I intend to keep it functional. I'll just see what's out there on the interwebs concerning the idle settings. I thought I read Phil wasn't using the IAC either so his settings may not be any use afterall.

My settings should be relevant here. I use my IAC, it's just broken... Hah.

if you are adversed to pulling the trans you could also fit a 60-2 trigger wheel up front and modify the config accordingly.

Nick I can't say how great your car is enough times, and that is a very nice offer but I have 2 spares also lol. I just ended up ordering the replacement ring gear from 034 for the aluminum flywheel. Thanks anyway! waiting to hear what VEMS.us has to say but it takes them about 72 hours to ever respond and this next email from them is quite important. Marc, they will likely email/call you again for clarity's sake. I know you are busy but I appreciate all your help. Thanks for dropping in nick.

Idle settings on the base tune from Marc should also be good. I'm not sure if mine are any different than the base tune idle settings.

I have very little understanding so far of the idle settings but it appears there are certain numbers that vary widely and others that are close such as the idle rpm's cold and hot. I was a little surprised that both configs show a warm idle around 1000 though as I wouldn't mind a nice 800 -900 idle.

Other people use VEMS? weird. Whoda thunk.
Sorry about the problems dude. I haven't had any experience with the guys overseas.

Lol no I know Phil.
Hey since you're here

, I saw in your config that your cranking ignition timing is zero degrees instead of 10 to 15. Is that what you're currently using successfully? Thanks

Hmm. Not good. When I had my issues it was all dealt with through Marc and they were pretty fast about sending me a new ecu. Sorry your experience is sucking :( you bought it used or from them or what? If Marc diagnosed the problem I don't really see how/why they're not getting or accepting it. Good luck with it.

Well at one point they must have been good at customer service then lol. That good they worked with you quickly. I provided him with all the troubleshooting details and experiences and he made an educated guess. I then mailed it back to him and he proved his theory correct when he opened the ECU and fixed it for free. Marc is out for the shipping back to him and back to me, the free O2 sensor, and the time he had into fixing it.

Well, what a crappy situation. Sucks that it had to happen to you, especially on your intro to standalone. But now you're ready to begin the fun, right?? Maybe the Pope can help you tune the car, too!

Those "Pope" tunes are too conservative IMO

Heres a nice warm and fuzzy before the repairs get under way tomorrow:
Enter 034motorsport. Theres was a bit of an issue with the ring gear replacement and the order that arrived today from them. I call them up and reach a customer service rep named Jeremy. Good dude, hella helpful and SYMPATHETIC lol. Cuz this thread is getting just plain sad honestly. I said I needed something good to write in here after the last two months of getting jerked around by VEMS HQ! Dammit these guys are good to us! I have an RMA in the works on my order I received today that will be getting returned. Next, they are OVERNIGHTING me a new aluminum flywheel for that bas#ard audi 0.2K I just got back from limping down the street to the mechanic. Yes, they are doing a warranty out of the goodness of their hearts and cutting me a HUGE deal on the new flywheel. Its the only freaking awesome news Ive heard in the past 30 days. Ill just let VEMS know I was joking about that parts replacement invoice I sent them from 034, even if they don't reply for another week. THANKS 034! Jeremy at 034 is a big credit to the force, no take backs.

I used the live VE analyzer today on 2 separate occasions to tune the low rpm blocks. I REALLY like the autotune function but may use it less in the future as I get more into the setup and software. Heres a snap of my VE table.
I have three concerns/questions: first, on the base tune, is knock due to ignition timing a concern on the base spark timing map? I haven't changed it at all so far. second, no matter what I change my req_fuel value to, whether it be 6.2 or 7.5, the car just wont start (as far as I remember) unless its set to 6.1. I know I need to change my VE table to accommodate the change in that value too but it seems very sensitive on my car. You can see I had to completely revamp the stock VE map values to something less scaled down. I used Phil's map as a sort of ratio interpretation for both ends of the spectrums like with lowest and highest RPM values, then used the differences and added them to my low values. Turned out quite well, except I know my base map shipped out with 7.5 but it wont start on that. Lastly, with my idle control, currently I have BOTH ignition based idle control and idle valve control activated. Without the ignition based one turned on, the idle goes up another 300 to 400 rpm to around 1800 RPM when the valve is activated. Before getting the flywheel repaired it was around 900. I have the warm idle set to 900 with 250 hz selected now but it still only gets as low as 1200 when warm with only the ignition based idle turned on. When only pwm idle valve is turned on, it still wont go any lower that 1400. seems odd. Any pointers people? Heres a snap of the ignition based settings that I believe I pillaged from one of Marc's old S2 forum posts to a gentleman inquiring about it. Thanks for all your help so far Marc and everyone else that put up with my b#tching so far lol. Although, I feel it was warranted and public interest needed brought to the table even if it hasn't swayed them yet... TIA
