Finally got this in, gonnna pull engine and drop it in, and will also finish up a lot of unfinished stuff in the bay.
Then got this A8 cover and made my own s8 engine cover. Saves a couple hundred $$ doing it.
Also messing with fan control modules. The s8 Ecu does not like the b6 fan control modules. It always starts on 4 cyl disabled mode when the fans are plugged in. Working on a workaround. Lots of little stuff happening to get this ready for more fab work.
Relay box and battery terminal on the left are now hard mounted permanently. Slowly but surely.

I couldn’t wait any longer. 1.5 hrs from running till on the floor, first time out. Not bad!

Definitely maybe.
If there was any chance of them actually getting finished I’d gladly do it, but your projects are eternal. Haha

oh i workin on them. the LS car will be the first for sure. the tube chassis car has to be up too. the Quattro v8 Corrado i dont care about. the ABZ v8 swap into the B4 90 i wanna do, moreso than the Rado. have all the stuff for that but a pilot bushing for the flywheel. gotta have it made or figure it out and make it. then i have it all, pre programmed VEMS and all.
you, on the other hand, are on top of shit for real.

Spent a lot of time cleaning up extra junk in the engine bay and finally got the engine back in. There was lots to take care of while it was out, though it doesn't quite look like much was done! This will essentially be the final product.
I decided to make this thing as easy to remove as possible..
- 50-pin quick disconnect from relay box
- 0ga battery/ground quick disconnect
- -8an PTFE fuel line all the way from pump the rail
Also took a run to Vermont for a very nice black b4 hood, which fits perfect and looks way better.
And time to start some exhaust/rear diff carrier fabrication. Got an early Christmas present

-- now the fun begins!

Very clean looking and well thought out on those latest additions! Hood looks to be in a lot better shape than the original.

Where in Vermont were you? I've got that same bandsaw and I think the same welder (mine's a 200DV) and live in Vermont haha.
Looking awesome as usual, love the harness quick disconnects.

Man, this is so wicked.
been meaning to ask, was it a pretty penny to purchase that 4.0t and all the ecu and wiring related goodies from the junkyard?

Thanks man - I've seen some good progress on yours as well -- hope that engine works out!

I was in Williston, just for about 30 mins though. Been over near Burlington a number of times in the past year though -- seems to be a common trip for me now. haha -- yeah the quick disconnects should be pretty amazing. Not much work at all to pull it out now (though I hope I never have to.... hope...)

Yeah, it certainly wasn't cheap - especially in one big purchase. I ended up getting it off a guy in florida that had a wrecked car, not from a junkyard. But, the way I looked at it, is it was cheaper than building a VR6 or 07k setup and would be more reliable. Once you factor in upgrading the whole engine internally, buying turbo, wastegate, fueling, fuel rail, manifolds, intercooler, standalone etc and fabbing everything... buying a pricier engine that shouldn't ever blow up (cuz it will be mostly stock) started looking very very appealing. So then I started looking around and decided to pull the trigger and jump in with two feet. I just hope it all works out well in the end.
More to come soon!

Next time you're up this way you should let me know! I have a house/shop in Winooski (15min from Williston), and if you've got more than 30min there's some pretty awesome Audi stuff really local. There's a mid-engine 2.7T quattro tube frame car 5min from my house that I've been looking for an excuse to go check out.
