Wow Hank, just wow.

I'm curious to see how the methanol works out for you. What pressure do you have to run that stuff at?

OMFG Hank, thank you! I've been wanting to see how one of these turbos works on a pimped out 20v! I'll be in Vegas the weekend of the 27th, we have to meet up this time. Hopefully you'll have it all tuned in by then!

Yea boy!! We have all been curious right? I just anted up to one.. My uncle has a GT30R for his Subaru, the t3 dropin as well that I want to try as well... But yea, where are you staying this round? Tell me in advance, and i'll pick you up from the airport, you can drive yourself to the airport and try your tune.. :)

Yea Marc, I hope the Methonal will work well.. the only shaddy thing at this point is really two fold.. WI kits thrive on Pressure and mist the charge, but there is only so much water you can get through the nossles. I wanted to run Methonal like 20%, so on a 112lb injector, I'll use half of it.

The regulator/pump are good to 100psi, I am just going to keep upping the pressure starting at 70 constant untill the injector stops opening, and then that will be it. Facing upward into the final curveo into the TB should provide sufficent atomizing. Plus motors don't mind droplets of Methonal, like they hate water droplets. I also hope this will help with keeping the 20v cool. Methonal has huge cooling properties.. Thats why Midget cars don't have but an oilcoolersized rads. The alcohol keeps things really cool.

I like it becuase its more like a fuel system.. A standard fuel level sensor, a meth fuel filter.. I dont' have to worry about clogged nossles, or running out of Meth.. I am big enough that I can fill up, drive to salt Lake, and do a track event on the reserve in back. Plus its an added weight, but its all on the tip of the tail, so how can that be bad.

anywho..

Hank,

Those camber plates are swell. Are they the standard "Camber/Caster Plates, 4 Bolt" that GC has? Or are they specific to the type85 Audis? What all was involved in the installation? Kinda looks like you built a square platform on your shock tower.

Thanks,
Rich

Yea, the producers of the Street Tuner Challenge (see the 034EFI Stickie about the Speed Channel show we'll be on) were going around California filming different "automotive enthusiast" events, they were at Dubwar and filmed the burnout contest, and Hank pretty much took the show, ran here so hard some hoses caught on fire in his engine compartment. :woowoo:

I'm about the catch the show right now, and hopefully Hank's sexy mug as well! 8)

Yeah boy!!! that was a show!!!! Im stoked they put the 034 plug in, they wouldn't even let me hold my Sparklets waterbottle becuase it wasn't a sponser of SC...

LOL, yea, I ran it for like 2 minutes of relentless axis spins and such... I my wastegate about 2 inches from the rubber hose comming right off the turbo, and it was close enough that after 2 minutes of wastegate OT, it caught up, scared the crap out of me.

Anyone get that recorded by chance??

Great stuff.
Did they speed up the video of you running for a fire extinguisher or was that real time?

Sweet Jimmy, i'll repay your hardwork with a dip on the URQ in Vegas...

I'll post more tonight, but the outlook on the 3071 is freaking awsome.. holy cow..

My newest thinking is a 20v MC with a 7.0 CR and like 35 PSI that the 3071 does without a sweat...

Well, Mike, do some water injection some how for your 20v now, you will absolutly love it...
Image

I got around to doing my water/Methonal injection yesterday.. my setup is this.. 8 gal cell from summit to a inline filter to a 100psi pump from coolingmist.com. It then goes to a FPR i got from summit, its a malory EFI FPR and its stainless, and compatible with Alky.. as is everything.. And then it goes to a 110 lb injector from 034...nothing is in the engine compartment becides the injector and line.. so heat soak on the water is nill. I am mapping the water using an AUX output driver on my IIC box.. it works like a freaking charm..

I have only ran pure water as on now, but my initial thoughts are  Water temperature I measured before running, and it was 8 C... I then ripped around town last night for an hour or so at 4am, and meaured afterwards, and it had only climbed to 10c in the cell.. So My goal of keeping the liquids cold was a success..

Needless to say, im injecting about 15 percent water right now, and it's primo. It drops intake temps like a rock, and cools the IM down.. I have it comming on at 8 psi, say intakes are at 45C, and im at a stop light.. but redline in first its down to about 17C, and then by then end of 2nd, im down to 13 where it stays for the rest of the pull.. then afterwards it will settle down to about 10 untill you rip on it next...

I am very please.. feels like i got 5 extra pounds of boost.!!!!

Methonal this week, 25psi or so, and then a 1/4 on friday!!! i'll keep ya'll updayted..

Hank, it was awesome meeting you, I loved your car! I really like that GT3017 turbo, man did that thing like to make boost! I bet at 30 psi and some 104 octane that thing would be stupid fast. I really wish I could have driven, but I had the mental capacity of a fruit fly, lucky for me the part that makes me giggle when going around a turn sideways at 40mph was still working :-D Man, I really want to quiet my car down now, I've been trying to unlock all the potential by having next to 0 back pressure, but I think the larger hot side turbine has been the key all along. After seeing how hard your car pulls with a quiet 2.5" exhaust, there's hope!

BTW,
"that was just like high school"
LOL!

It was good meeting you Jim, i always wanted to meet who i was stealing my motor from.. Im glad you enjoyed the car, and im stoked that we didn't go to jail 8) It was cool Rippin you around McCarren Airport all hung out there. Yea, im stoked that you even thought my car was "close" to what your 90tq is. Thats a huge complement.

That 034 gt3071R does rip huh!!! Full boost( I was boosting up to 28 the night before) by 3600'sh rpm, and all at once.. I am stoked i spent the extra money on the ball bearings.

Anywho, hope you get your car on a big turbo again soon, you sounded like you were having withdrawls, or maybe that was just from the festivities the night before. :D I may post a vid tomarrow of the car in like 3rd to get the turbo noice, its a sweet noice with virtually a stock exhaust!!! Maybe i'll rip through that tunnel..

Anywho, glad you could recoupe for an hour and come rip around. Glad the local law was slow to the scene, and your a fast bailer out of the car!!
