I have been slowly chipping away at this, so here's an update.

I was able to get everything pulled off the car. Seals, body panels, motor, trans and everything. Why am I doing this you ask, well I made the decision to paint the car, so it will be parked for... a while.....


Got the 'new' doors on and turns out B3 and B4 doors are identical, except for the moldings, which I will not be running anyway.

I'm super pumped on that because these doors are CLEAN. I have a decent amount of rust to take care of on the fenders and trunk, so any panel that won't need extensive work is much appreciated. Thankfully the car itself is very rust free. Here's one fender:

Also cleaned up the engine harness a bit by removing the O2 sensors and a few other things I will never use. Just makes everything cleaner in the bay. Speaking of which I have been doing some welding in there. Last year I didn't want to close up any holes that I thought I might use in the future, turns out I only need a couple so I can clean up that firewall even more. Still have to weld up the spot with the X on it.

And lastly, my old turbo needed a rebuild so I sent it out to Comp, had it completely rebuilt and sold it with 0 miles on it. I picked up a 35R that is pretty hurt to upgrade to an HTA86. :) Should spool faster than my old turbo and make significantly more power if I want to push it. For example, stock head evo, 2.0 bottom end, on corn.

Granted he had some big cams and evo heads even stock with greatly outflow my port matched AEB, but I don't expect make that kind of power. I do expect to spool slightly faster because of my cams, which translates to tranmission shattering torque. So, thats why I just picked up a built 01E my friend Mike built a few years ago. :D

Thats about it for now, but I hope to make some good progress this weekend, so I'll try to keep the updates coming, mainly for my own motivation.

I took apar the 35R in preparation of shipping it out and found that the turbine wheel was trashed too. :(

Thinking Holset now. I'm sick of spending money on turbos and just having them go to shit. If I buy a Holset for $200 in working order, I don't think I can lose. :D

Anyways, if you got a second play with this paint color chooser and recommend me a color! Trying to sick with a solid color but I will consider a metallic. (Im doing a single stage urethane)

I've been busy. Sandblasted and POR15d all this crap. Also gave it a coat of clear.

Like I said in the beginning not going to get to Carlisle.I dont really have anyone to go with and a 6 hr maiden voyage would be rough. I mean I've done it before... but I don't want to do it again.

I'll be getting it ready now for a show in Buffalo that I helped organize. Anyone close to Buffalo, NY should consider coming! Its on June 6th.

Would have been great to see this at Carlisle, but would hate to see you rush it and somthing bad happen. There is always next year.

Yeah I sure wish I could have made it. I ended being stuck at work very late on Friday anyway and also sliced the shit out of my thumb on Wednesday, so it would have been a challenge to get down there even if the car was 100%.

I'm not sure whats gotten into me but I've been working a lot on finishing work.Typically when I get close to driving the car, I get very excited and end up kind of throwing the remaining parts on and running it.

This time it will be different....

Got the exhaust finished, hangers and all. I used some thick walled ss tubing and borrowed a tubing bender from work. Worked like a charm.

Also with Eddies help got the fenders fitted pretty well.

The trunk lid, lights and lock were also re-installed. With some fresh seals I might add.

I decided that this wasn't going to cut it

So I sandblasted some parts

And yanked the barb out of the valve cover and tapped it for a 1/2" NPT in case I want to run an AN line from this eventually.

And with lil nicky's help powder coated it to match the rad support I made earlier.

Also clearcoated the compressor cover and Nick was kind enough to 'diy' ceramic coat my turbine housing!

Peaked under the valve cover and found that my frequent oil changes (because I had no idea how to tune MS3) has cleaned up my head nicely! haha

I bought a flange that will fit the bigger VR6 tb I am running. Before I had an adapter, but I think it was leaking and it looked like crap.

I tried taking a before picture to show the restriction, but I had already started taking material away. At the end of the day I was probably able to increase the diameter of the port by 3/8 of an inch. Doesn't sound like too much but its about a 33% increase in area!

Long time no update.

Got a temporary display working, still having issues with my factory cluster mating to the megasquirt.

Had some issues, mostly small but at the end of the day I wasn't able to get full power sweep done.

I ended up having the wrong injector data entered in the megasquirt setup. It was info I got from the previous owner... lol One of those things that you could 'make work' but as a friend of mine would say, you are just putting fudge on top of fudge to get it there. Its just not the right way to do it. If I ever did want to change injectors in the future, having the wrong cal in for the old ones would make the new ones change my VE table completely.

I did have a datasheet for the injectors though, so I went back entered the latency table in again and retuned on the street (after the dyno sesh) and it was running well. Still thought I needed more data though, because idle was funky.

I ended up calling Fivo-O motorsports and trying to get a small pulsewidth table from them to help my idle situation. They told me over 1.5ms the injectors are linear, which is good news for me because I'll never go under that. More importantly they sent me a new latency table, or updated as they say. Apparently they have better test equipment now, than when the injectors were sold so the table changed. Doens't make much sense, but as long as I am starting over with the VE table its nice to know I have the 'best' info.
Anyways, highest RPM fully loaded up we got to was about 5500 @ 18-20 psi. Was right around 390whp/380wtq. We only were messing with the VE table at that point, so there are still a few more tweaks that should give me some more power.

Peak power should be at 6500 or 7000 so I think I will be well over 400 whp at 20 psi. :D
