Ahhhh, that explains why I haven't seen you walking in for a few months now. I'll be at Wolfsgart though, definitely. I also request a ride in this monster.

Hit a minor roadblock - one of the 4 stud locations for the wastegate on the exhaust manifold is not drilled in the correct spot. Not sure what I'll do to correct it yet

It's off by a good 1/8".

Ok, we're on the home stretch!

I need those with experience with standalone EMS to help me out. I have not put power to the car or the ECU yet. My battery is charged and ready to go though. What's the first step here?

I have downloaded and installed VEMStune on my laptop. I don't even know how to load a base tune...

...Help?

i could stop by after work, maybe bring cort. I am sure you can handle it just fine, but if you want some extra eyes on it, the offer stands.

So I believe your ECU should already have a base tune loaded in if you got it fresh from Marc and told him about your setup. If not, then we need to start somewhere else. I am just going to assume for now that a base tune is loaded. In that case, you just plug the VEMS into your computer via USB-serial cable (having a good one is most important in my experience) and turn the key to the run position. Open VEMSTune and the gauges should display assuming you installed the USB-serial drivers correctly. If not, then you may have to play with the connection settings and select the correct port for the adapter, etc.

If you can see the gauges, just try and start it! If it has the base tune from Marc, it should definitely start assuming all is right. If it doesn't start, then we will have to go from there based on your symptoms.

You have the same pump and injectors as me. You could probably load my map and be fine to drive around no problem. In boost might need some work as your turbo is larger.

Ha! Neat, I used to work for the company that builds most of GMCR's packaging machinery.

Yup! Left there and moved to Seattle in January to expand my job palate, though.
