Anyone have any thought about this swap?

Have a look to see if the rail width of the seats match. However, you might be better off seeing if UrS6 seats fit.

I had A3/S3 Recaros put in my B4. The rail width is the same, but the floor bracket in the 80 had to be cut.

I figured I would have to measure them before I get them. I just found a deal on some nice black, heated, power seats from an MKV and was wondering if anyone had test fit before or not.

They are a lot more abundant and cheaper..

and leagues more comfortable.

Well that's not fair actually.

Just about anything is more comfortable than T44 seats.

really?

i have both a mk5 and a t44. (spent 2 years w/sport seats and the last year with urs6 recaros) I think both the sport seats and urs6 recaros are absolutely more comfortable than the plaid mk5 GTI seats.

I road trip each car about 14hours every couple months and the mk5 requires more stops to stretch legs and realign my back

It must be a height thing. My plaid Mk5 GTI seats are way, way more comfortable than my T44 seats ever were.

My T44 seats are the equivalent of sitting on bricks covered in old leather. My roommates Urs4 seats are leagues better.
My sport seats are garbage, and my old comforts were garbage. They were probably nice 20 years ago when they were soft, but conditioner does nothing to them at this point. My head also has about half an inch of space between it and the roof when they're at the lowest they'll go, so that's kind of a pain if I ever have to wear a helmet.

They have 0 lumbar support. Just sitting in your sport seats for a few hours at the drags Friday night my back is trashed lol.

Hmm, the comfort 200 seats are the most comfortable I've ever road tripped in. My girlfriend always comments the same thing on our past 20+ hour drives in it to Carlisle. Different strokes I guess...

I have no complaints about the comfort of the seats. I have enjoyed them so far. The driver seat is starting to get a few tears in it and I'm looking for something a little more bucket-y. I'm looking for something that hugs a little more when I hoon.

I agree 100% though that the T44 seats are good for road trips.

URS4 seats with 200 headrests FTW!

Maybe it's a desert thing? literally no leather Audi seat I've ever sat in made before 92 was comfortable minus the olympic edition sport seats I had, but even then those could have had better lumbar and bolsters.

Loxx the fuck you on about most comfortable seats hahaha! I am debating putting a milk crate in place of my seats or maybe some shards of glass glued to cardboard.... and mine only have 130k miles on them. Maybe we are all just confusing sport/comfort seats?

Here is what I have "Comfort"? Seats:

Here are the only other ones I found: "Sport" Seats (Could see how these would not suck)

Nick yes URS4 seats are superb no question about that.

It would be nice to get some dimensions and specs on the weight of our seats and maybe get a list of easily interchangeable through the vw/audi world (ie. minor modifications to brackets)

I'm currently making the waterbuffalo a lightweight so maybe I can start adding some factual data to the repositories here

I'm not a big fan of t44 seats either. My car came with comfort seats that I swapped out for sports. The sports hold me better but, imo, don't have enough lumbar. Ive been thinking about doing this and going crazy on them with the memory foam.

I can vouch for the fx1 being leagues more comfortable than any T44 seat I've sat in. That is hopefully next on my list of To-do's as well as a new steering wheel.
Comforts and sports are both the suck. Sorry guys.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I did feel Marks 200's seats when I was down at BBQ2015 and his were insanely soft compared to mine and I can probably see them being more comfortable, at least in the ass area. Soft doesn't fix lumbar.

Thanks for this link, fx1 pro's are amazing seats.

How simple or complex is this swap? I'd like to do the same to replace my sports with broken seat heaters.

Drivers side is a direct bolt in. Pass side has the wrong plug for the power seat which is only two wires. I made a little harness to keep everything plug and play.

LOL I don't know... for some reason mine are easy to sit in for hours and hours at a time on REALLY long trips without making your booty sore. :idunno:

My comforts were pretty, well, comfortable. But the bench in my truck holds me better then they did.

Yes, that's one thing for sure. They are terrible for holding you in.

Having driven more than 25,000 miles in each of the different seat types mentioned in this thread, I'll go ahead and weigh in.

And FWIW, I'm 6'1" and usually about 180 pounds.

T44 Comfort seats- the best for LONG road trips- I've driven cross-country three times riding in a T44 comfort seat. Not "fun" at all though.

T44 Sport seat- great for a daily driver- <1hr drives, especially spirited ones, they're awesome! Not too bad on longer drives either if you're relatively skinny. I've driven from Seattle to Baltimore in one, and my ass didn't suffer.

UrS4 seats- also great for a daily driver- my favorite actually, because of the support, and they look great. On longer drives though, they become a bit restrictive. I drove 1100 miles in a day once in my '93 UrS4. Yeah, by the time the trip was over, I hated those seats... til the next spirited drive. :drive:

MK5 Jetta Sportwagen- those seats were OK, supportive enough for spirited driving, and not so restrictive that they would compromise comfort on a longer haul. My main objection was that they were attached to a boring fwd VW.

I just took a mkv jetta apart yesterday, I was surprised to find the seats are flat based like a TT. Should be fairly easy to put in anything....
