Does anyone have good suggestions for international shipping, large boxes? Just got a quote for a 54"x15"x15" box to gemany for $600 from UPS, fed ex was $1000. I've gotten large parts delivered from Europe before much cheaper im wondering what gives...for example my 01E I only got charged $130 for shipping by the seller, granted he's a business and has an account, but that's a crazy discount...what am I doing wrong?

Have you looked into freight instead of couriers?

If you're not in a rush over land/sea vs air shipping can save a bunch.

I've attempted to but it seems very user unfriendly, you can't just get a quote...

Not sure what the price might be but I've had small-item success with DHL...

If I read this right, you're sending the package abroad?

Try freightquote.com, my guy (took 4 people to find a good contact) is Matt Triebel <mtriebel@freightquote.com>

Tell him Dustin sent you :)

Is it too big for USPS?

USPS does not provide tracking for international shipping, which can result in no seller protection thru pay pal, but in this case yes too big for USPS, and very cost prohibitive.

several months ago I was swapping steering wheel hubs with a guy in the uk.
His shipping costs where a tenth of mine.

That's interesting.

I'm tracking a pair of UrS Fuchs that were shipped from Cali via USPS at the moment.

And I specifically told the seller, the cheapest option via USPS available lol

USPS subcontracts through other couriers (usually UPS) for shipments like that. All of your small parcels sent through them are shipped via UPS surepost bags.
