Ceramic Coating 5-cyl Wastegate

Anybody know why the OEM 5-cyl Wastegate has heat sink fins?

Would coating it with ceramic coating be a bad idea because it will retain heat?

Or would a high heat thermal dispersant be better for that?

Thanks in advance.

It has heat sink fins to disperse heat...

The reason for dispersing heat is (in my opinion) for ensuring proper valve clearances and to protect the diaphragm. Definitely don't use something which will retain heat inside.

If it is designed with a heat sink, then ceramic coating it to further retain heat would not be advised. Having it coated with a thermal dispersant would be much more beneficial. Unfortunately, on a part like this I can't imagine you would notice any improvement for your efforts.

Thanks for the replies guys.

That's what I figured. High temp thermal dispersant it is.

Just looking for a coating that will handle the heat. Just doing some beautification not expecting performance improvement.

What temps are you seeing?

Not sure of surface temps, but EGTs are in the 1200-1500 range.
