Marc's 1983 Ur Quattro 07k build

Its been so long since I worked on this car that I forgot I hadn't started a project thread here for it.
This is how the car started, 1983 Audi Quattro:

I bought it with a blown head gasket about 6 years ago knowing it was going to be a go-slow project. At first I was thinking I'd AAN swap it but knew I wanted an 07k after playing with hank's various small chassis 07k builds at battleborn.
So, I've been slowly modding the car. I started out doing camber/caster plates up front a few years ago with my friend Haydn Taylor's help:

I also wanted to devise a nice removable core support so I cut the framerails and fabricated mounting plates with locating pins so it can hang without bolts for easy alignment

all the factory wiring got pulled out, replacing all of it with can-bus master cell modules

fast forward to this weekend's progress. I finally got around to preparing my mockup motor for mounting in the chassis so I can start fabricating around it (radiator, intercoolers, turbo/EM, etc). step one was preparing an 01e (or part of it). the cuts are pretty easy thanks to Hanks help with a printable template. I still have to weld back in support plates but all of this is for mockup so its coming back out (probably multiple times) anyway.

and setting the motor in the bay

subframe and frontend on. look at all that frickin room!

thats all for now. dont expect fast and furious updates unfortunately.

Can't complain about hte potential of the 07k. Doing our IMS850 kit today on pump getting 620whp on pump 91 octane was insane!!!

Looks like you left some significant timing and boost out of the midrange on the 91 octane plot to achieve that, but still quite the feat! Was the turbo dropping off that hard at 7500 or was it something else keeping it from making power after that on 91?

Mostly boost CHris. 27psi vs 32psi. Any more, I'd have to pull timing, and it made most power on pump at 27 with good timing. Yeah, boost valve is at 100% DC after 7000. Needs more turbo. Turns out, the stock head flows. Our mule on CNC head and 305 cams is making 730whp right now, but doing it at 39psi on a 6766

This ought to be good.
Are you going with Haltech CAN-BUS, Marc?

That's awesome Hank. Is that the stock 07k head period, or stock with cams?

the can bus stuff is called a "infinity box". (it was called an ISIS mastercell. sucks to be that marketing department!)
http://infinitybox.com/waytek carries them:

How many circuits are you doing? I planned on doing the ISIS/infinity setup on my 968.

its a two power cell system plus one master switch cell and one window motor controller. one in the trunk, one in the engine bay, the master and window module in the cabin.

Wow Marc, I have never seen such a cool system for can-bus. Awesome stuff, I can't wait to see how it works out for you!

Very interesting that Powercell/Can-bus stuff, major upgrade from the nasty early urq wiring.
Will be an epic ride for sure when finished

Talk to me about Dynos that can read can-bus data...is this a thing worth mentioning?

I haven't purchased it, but there is a land and sea dyno add-on that can plug into OBD canbus data. if there are extra things you want recorded on a dyno plot its interesting I suppose. but most tuners have their own logging suites that record that sort of info separately anyway.
